We are now seeing an uptick in confirmation cases of the new omicron variant, BA.2 aka stealth omicron. By far, New England is the highest in the country at this point, with 19.2% of new covid cases being the new variant.
Also seeing it show up in New York and New Jersey; in New York it is currently 3.5% of all new cases, up from 1.2% last week.
While we are seeing mass removal of mask mandates and recommendations, testing, restrictions to go back to work and school if positive, etc, while we are seeing all of this, covid is still Killing more people now than it has at nearly any point in this 2 year pandemic.
Denmark and the UK were having these spikes in cases 2 weeks ago, with BA.2.
