The best part of all this is Scholz and jsto and a couple of other educated babies on this board. Scholz it is really cool that the Texas Brand has faded out of any public respect. Notre Dame was not awarded for beating you in a joke of a game. Oklahoma was not punished for losing to Texas. That should thrill you. Charlie got the team motivated for one game this year. You propelled OU by beating them early. Texas bought in to false hope after the RRR. Regressed game after game. Rhodes was fired after he skunked you all. Let that sink in Scholz.

Great. I freely admit Texas is down. Not my point. I'm talking about the complete lack of character you $ooners have (not that such matters ever bother you). What's to understand? We are all part of a conference if our conference does well on a national stage it adds legitimacy to the members if they do poorly it takes away. It's that simple. It doesn't really matter if the plan is to finish at the bottom every year. If the plan is to turn this shit around, then it would be nice if recruits, national media, and the playoff committee didn't think the Big 12 was a joke.

Sure you can counter that if you win them all we will be golden regardless, and that's true, but there is a good chance that even with a good team we could lose a game.

The calculus isn't nearly so simplistic. It's one thing to understand that a strong conference reputation helps conference members. It's another entirely to suggest that there's a net benefit to us when a rival program that will be a direct and formidable recruiting rival even when we're strong wins a national championship. Losing recruits this year and next (and beyond) to an OU program fresh off of a national title season hurts us more than any hypothetical incidental benefit we gain from their improving the Big 12's reputation.

This notion that "anything and everything that makes the conference look good helps Texas" is just utterly asinine. There's more than a single factor to consider.

I understand the premise of rooting for them during the season when our opposition looking good helps us look good, but it doesn't follow that this makes sense when (1) we suck so bad that how our opponents look is more or less irrelevant to our fortunes, (2) everyone's postseason destination is already determined, and (3) most importantly, the net effects on Texas of an OU win are inarguably negative, as they are here.

One thing that might help you guys would be that if OU wins the championship, Texas was the only team that beat us. Baylor, TCU, OsU, Tennessee - nope!
That would be a selling point for your program!
However, I fully understand that OU sucks, we all live in trailers and beat our wives. However, when I was on combat teams with Texas fans, we still protected each other's backs!!!

You said a 1-loss Big XII team would NEVER make into a 4-team playoff. We said the Big XII had the easiest path. Well, lo and behold, OU is the only one cemented into the playoffs at this point because they don't have that conference title game hurdle to get over. YOU WERE WRONG.
