Maybe, the players are getting what they wanted. CFB is becoming more like the NFL and with it the money. Will the high end guys get bank, yes but they better perform or they will be pushed to the portal, just like being cut by an NFL team. This system will infinitely benefit Texas. How? Back in the SWC days, teams would split ticket receipts, etc... There wasn't a ton of cash there but there was some. This meant Texas had to split it's revenue with Baylor and TCU, etc.... All the while these teams were pooling their efforts to stab Texas in the back in recruiting. On top of this, Texas only way to flex was to offer more scholarships than the other schools and thus hoard the talent. Unlimited scholarships were ended by the NCAA as well as Title IX. We've lived the results, a Texas team held back by shackling rules, competitors cheating, and confiscatory redistribution laws.

Fast forward to the present. Texas is free. We can spend our vast resources to win, finally. There will be some attempts to shackle our financial strength but even the salary cap can't touch NIL. NIL is a free market. Boosters can give what they want to who they want through 'advetising' and 'service' contracts, etc....

Belechik is a symptom of CFB becoming more mechanical. Players won't be sold by 'family atmospheres' anymore. It will be cash and winning but the guys on the bottom will have a much harder time and will lose out on free educations.

He said it is a new game now with NIL and the portal....really more like the NFL


...then he said if a kid wants to play on Sunday there is not a more qualified guy to help him get there. Jimmy was hinting at the idea that top guys might line up to play there
