Our sweet 3 yr old Great Pyrenees rescue dog must have had a pretty bad first few months before we got him. He's completely blind in one eye (not correctable), and we're having a consult with a pet opthalmologist to determine how severe the cataracts are in his other eye. It's possible that his other eye might be treatable as well, but it seems to be a toss up right now. The ultimate goal is to be able to operate one the one eye if it's possible. It's extremely expensive, but we're absolutely willing do it. I feel so bad for him. He bumps into furniture and barks incessantly whenever somebody walks in the front door. It's only because he can't see who it is, but it freaks people out.
If worse comes to worse, does anyone have experience with a blind dog, and if so any and all advice/info would be great. Seeing him going through this breaks my heart.
