The Sacramento Kings traded De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs. It was a 3 way trade that also involved the Chicago bulls. I've had the pleasure of watching Fox play in my adopted hometown. He was the center of the franchise and I'm sorry to see him go and he was playing great when he was healthy. And going to the spurs he'll be the perfect #2 to Wemby. The spurs may have all the boxes checked off it'll be interesting to see them now.

I'm not sure if the kings are better or worse now. The team was built around Fox. It's now Sabonis, Malik Monk and a new hc.

An even bigger trade was Luka Doncic to the Lakers. Wth was this trade was about? The Mavs were in the finals last year and they trade the centerpiece? Anthony Davis asked the Lakers for help and this is what he gets? And now the Mavs are an old tired team.

Rumor has it, lebron james didn't like Davis and Luka had issues with Mavs brass. Quite possibly an upcoming salary renegotiation for Luka was sky high and the Mavs wanted to get value before he can become a free agent. Who knows.

What I heard is that the Mavs are upset with Doncic's lack of conditioning word around the campfire is that he's 277 pounds. And the Lakers think Davis is injury prone. One thing I've learned about LeBron is that he doesn't tolerate a lack of conditioning no matter who it is that's about to change.

Could be, Doncic is a big guy. I've never had respect for LeBron though. Ridiculously talented but has always had an overinflated view of his own importance in all things. Nobody cares for your opinions outside of your craft, same goes for all celebs & artists.

Wondering how Levine fits in with the Kings. Has really played well this season. He and Monk are a very good backcourt scoring wise. The trade got them out of extending Fox on probably a max type of deal. Which is not a bad thing.

Regarding the Spurs still have a few boxes to check off. Shooting and size being the two most pressing needs. Really need Vassell to play consistently better night in night out. Way too many games like the last one against Memphis. Have no size behind Wemby.

They do have potentially 2 lottery picks this year depending on the end of their season and also Atlanta's unprotected 1rst. Need a win tonight!:)

Be interesting to see how they use Chris Paul going forward as he specifically signed with Spurs because he was promised starters type of minutes. Well that and $11 million dollars!:) I would think his minutes will be cut some due to trade.

Really no reason to play him more than Castle at this time. Castle needs to be in the upper 20s every game.

Los Spurs are done. That run- from 1989 to 2019- they enjoyed the greatest run in professional sports history- that one year they missed the playoffs- 96-97, they got the lotto draw that saved the franchise.
And it wasn't just that they got Robinson and Ducan- they got dudes with character. They built a franchise based on keeping your mouth shut and doing your fvcking job. Remember when Tony Parker got busted banging that ho bag Erin Berry? That was about the biggest Spurs scandal ever.
And that old culture is now gone. The NBA has zero loyalty to fan bases now. Wemby will be gone as soon as his rookie contract is up.

I would be willing to bet a very nice Steakhouse GC that Wemby will NOT be gone after his rookie contract is up. He will extend with the Spurs.

I've been a Spurs fans since I was a kid and they drafted the Admiral. Watched them my entire life. I hope I'm wrong.

But Wemby is from Paris. He's spent his entire life in Paris (save for one season in Lyon), and guess where he went every time he had dead time-- back home to Paris.
He's a city kid. He thrives in that environment. San Antonio has 1 decent French bakery. Tacos get real old, real fast, to french people. I just see him landing in a city that has more cultural variety for him.
And San Antonio ain't that variety.....

Look at Leonard. LA kid. He was brought in and doused with the team culture. The Spurs culture. 1st chance he got, he was on a plane back to LA.

Well i am really old and my favorite Spur of all time is James Silas so if that tells you how long i have been a fan. As i grew up watching them in the ABA.

All valid points on Wemby. He can head anywhere he wants after the season. He will resign with the Spurs for his 2nd contract. Heck, I will make it interesting for you i'll take a TX roadhouse GC and if he doesn't i will send you Three Forks or comparable wherever you live in return. Giving you around 4 or 5 to 1 odds. :)

I really don't like Leonard or his Uncle but he signed a 2nd contract with the Spurs as well.

You know so far Vessell and Sochan and a couple others have not really stood out to me. Castle is good but he's still a rookie. If he continues to struggle Paul won't lose many minutes. And Harrison Barnes brings a lot especially off the court.

I do think Fox and Wemby are a good 1/2 for leading a team. But the spurs are still 21/26 and there's only 35 games left. They'll have to win at least 25 of those games to make the playoffs.

I don't know what to think about the Doncic/Davis trade. What if Doncic really is 277 pounds like I've read. That's not good cause he'll be playing next to a man who's 40 years old and still built like a Greek god. That could cause tension n on the Lakers.

The maverics big 3 is now 32, 33, and 35. LeBron is still playing great at 40 but these guys aren't Lebron. They're an old tired team now.

As far as the Kings go they have a great offense but Lavine is not a good defender the Kings need a defensive preference around the rim. I do think the new coach has improved the morale in the locker room. This year I think they have a better chance to make the playoffs than the spurs. The next Spurs/Kings game is March 7th it will be emotional.

James "Snake" Silas was my childhood hero. The 1970/71 Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks were the no. 1 ranked team in the country (under the NAIA back when the SWC had few black players). Silas was a top 5 player in the country. BUT - he flunked out at midterm. The reason? Rumor has it that his final exam had instructions "Answer every question true or false." My childhood hero answered every question "true or false." I don't know if he was being a smartass or was just not bright, but the professor flunked him. There was even a protest at the professor's house by angry students. Regardless --- Snake was a stud.

They haven't stood out to me as well which is not the greatest thing. Especially Vassell as the Spurs gave him a very good 2nd contract and he needs to improve. Sochan was playing well before getting hurt. Struggling once he has come back. Not sure what to pay him on his next contract. I don't really mind if Spurs don't make playoffs as they still need more talent.

What they really need is for Trae Young to get banged up again! Castle has been playing pretty well. Paul isn't a Spur after this season so don't mind if his minutes go down or they buy him out. I like Barnes as a solid veteran off the bench. Hopefully if with Spurs next season that will be his role.

For the Lakers it was a no brainer type of trade. The Mavs are better right now but that window is not open very long with Irving and Davis.

Now that was a great story!! The NBA missed seeing just how good he was once he had that bad knee injury.

I've been a spurs fan since earliest memories while my pops was a Rockets guy. Watched every game I could and went to more than I can count. Included were around 12 playoff games and 3 finals. Pop has been an outstanding HC for the players but an unabashedly asshat mouthpiece for a political party once Obama was elected.

Never thought we shared beliefs nor did I care but when he decided to only answer post game questions with partisan propaganda instead of HC insight, I all but stopped watching. I follow via reading sports articles and stat pages now.

It's totally a personal choice but it's one I feel ok with. Sad

Leonard's uncle Dennis was the reason he signed with clippers. He went from a first class organization to mickey mouse one. He hasn't been the same.

Wemby and French culture? Seriously? You want to use that yardstick he should sign with New Orleans and that's not going to happen. Tony Parker is a Frenchman who played all but one season in San Antonio and was very happy here. And with the money he makes he can hire a French cook. Mostly he's very competitive just like the Spurs organization.

@darrenj I was 16 when the Spurs came here in 1973 went to their first game in the Hemisfair arena. Red, white and blue ball. The ABA fan was more exciting than the NBA. I liked the Hemisfair more than the Alamodome. I remember all the great players over the last 50 years.

I have to say about this. Last summer Ewers and Manning announced their support for Trump. I'm liberal but I didn't have a problem with it. As fans the most important thing is can they get it done on the field. Ewers did and I have confidence in Manning. They seem to be from good families and seem to be good guys off the field. I don't have to agree with their politics and I don't have a problem if they speak out.
