I really don't know anything about him. I know he's from the DC area. I know his dad was his coach. I know he qb'd his team to a championship. But what kind of offense did they run? We all know that Texas is spread offense country. I understand he has a better work ethic than Heard.

Can he throw a ball more than 15 yards with accuracy (McCoy, Swoopes, and Heard). Does he throw a slow ball that takes 5 minutes to get to the receiver (McCoy). Is he mobile? Does he get rattled when the going gets tough (Gilbert). If he's none of those things than maybe there's hope that we finally have a good qb.

What do we really know about him? I'd love to know.

He played in the Under Armor AA game as a WR, so yeah very athletic and mobile.

From all the tape I've seen he has a very good arm. Not as strong as Swoopes, but much closer to Swoopes than McCoy or Heard. Arm strength not an issue.

Coach's son with a high football IQ. I'm pretty sure he even knows how to throw a ball away instead of running out of bounds for a loss! Imagine that!

Did you hear about Heard's sudden boost in work ethic? I believe Kai is responsible for Heard working his ass off over the holidays. In Heard's own words during last season, "Kai is killin' it in practice everyday." Pretty sure he's seen enough of Mr Locksley to know if he doesn't tighten up, Kai will be taking his job.

I've said it before, I believe Kai is the future. Whoever emerges, we will be in a lot better shape at QB. Well, with 5 QBs we should be anyway.

I am curious as to why he didn't get more attention since being at UT--he appears to be getting it now. If Kai's good enough, could Buechele RS?

I'm still quite sure Shane redshirts. I actually think Shane doesn't start for a few years, when Kai leaves. That's how good I think Kai is.

I sure don't know who will start at QB this year, but it's dam sure good to have some competition going on for that position.

We have four guys that could possibly start.

I think the staff really wanted Kai to redshirt, and I think he and his dad (the former OC at Maryland) understood that it would benefit him. He has apparently been on a mission since he's been here, though; much more than Heard, he understands that being the starting QB at a major program is a full-time job.

As for Buechele, I think that would be the hope.

Good to hear about Heard finally putting in the work. I agree that with 5 guys fighting for the position, it is going to make everyone better.

The gilbert offense will throw the football and the question is which Qb has the most accurate arm and can read the defense. I really do not know the answer at this point and a lot will be decided this spring.

Dammit man, this is the internet! There is no place for rational and reasonable posts like this.

From the video, he definitely seems to prefer the long ball but then again accurate short routes typically do not make highlight reels. There was a ton of criticism on Colt for making a living on short routes but damn I'd love to have a qb able to hit those chain pushing 5-7 yarders.
We've seen more than enough passes at the feet or 3 steps behind a slashing back. I'll take precision over a 50yd arm any day. We have what looks to be a promising stable of qbs & I am feeling optimistic again.
