DD is our new kick returner Strong has said he needs to be on the field just like Roach.

Yes, please note the defense of Ohio state on how they played the spread offense of OU and it was not with 3 DL to rush the QB.
They also have a secondary that isn't clueless. Look at the stats, astounding numbers.

Per TFB:

Jacory Warrick: Senior WR Jacorey Warrick left the Cal game early with an injury. I confirmed recently that he has a hamstring injury, and while it doesn’t sound to be too severe it could keep him sideline for a little bit. I was told the two players that will see a boost in reps are Jerrod Heard and Devin Duvernay in the slot.

While Warrick has had an nice start to his senior season, he doesn’t have the level of big play ability like Heard and Duvernay. – (Andrew)

Since Strong isn't Urban Meyer...Texas should pay $5 million a year and settle to be mediocre? If that's the case, why did Texas get rid of a better performing Mack Brown?

Saw that crap this morning.... No Bueno.

Wonder what the punishment will be?
Depends. If he blew anything higher than .08 that means he had a LOT to drink. 300 pound men can hold lots of booze. Still no excuse. We know he didn't have a couple glasses of red wine with his steak dinner.

Just fvcking stupid man. A SR is supposed to know better. Just fvcking stupid.

I don't know if anybody remembers, but, I think in the 90s (maybe late 80s), Dodds used to schedule the 1st game and then the bye week. It would drive me nuts

Both Texas and Michigan State beat Notre Dame this year. Beating Notre Dame seemed impressive until Texas was beat by CAL (no defense) & Michigan State was beat by Wisconsin today (badly). Basically, it's hard to judge a team (for the season) off 1 game (win or lose).

Let's think about why westx.......

Back then, a season was only 10-11 games.

You knew we had a game with OU in october-- and if there were 10 teams in the SWC then you played your non conference game week one, lucked your wounds and got ready for conference.

Just curious, if you had your preference would you do a bye week at the beginning, middle or latter 3rd of the season? It is easy for us to forget that training camp beginning in early August is as rough as game week and it should be considered.

I also, have another question. As a D1 player, do you conisder the FCS schools that the SEC plays in late November kind of a bye week where you can rest some of the injured starters or how is that typically handled?

Last question first- that's why they do it late. It's smart. Give your starters a blow, patch up your injured guys because your make or break conference game is coming- see if any freshman have improved from that blow out win week1.

Talk to 10 people you'll get 10 answers about when bye weeks should be. And all 10 will be good answers with solid reasoning. There's no wrong or right way to answer that question. 90% of the time it's either a "good week" to have a bye or a bad week.

Anybody watching michigan? There's 5 minutes left in the game- michigan is killing Penn state, and Harbaugh is still chewing a$$e$ like it's a tie game.

It's the little things that matter.

I didn't expect for the bye week to be bad for UT. But, using our opponents as a barometer is not a good sign. I still am optimistic because a lot of football remains to be played. However, improvement week by week including the eyeball test must occur at Texas. Zero excuses.

meh. All we can do now is prepare for the games left. Can't worry about what other teams do after we play them. The goal now is to beat ok state and then it's to beat OU. Get those two tasks done it should be a pretty good yesr.

I was just referencing the state of the team right now by using a common reference point. There isn't really very many ways to gauge the team this early in the season. The eyeball test has its limitations but, valid method to some extent IMO. But, to be clear, I am not sitting around worried about other teams we have played.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm figuring beat Okstste, beat OU. Both of which are doable. Get to 4-1 everyone puts the pitchforks away, and then we keep developing the program. If Texas can get to 4-1 after the next two they have a decent shot to be 6-1 headed in to Baylor and everyone will be feeling good again.
