Cal

We held them to 28 last year. We do that again and we win easily. Personally, I'd open in 18 wheeler and impose our will for the 1st drive. Just run it down their friggin throat. I'm hoping we throw our 1st pass on the 3rd drive and it's 14-3 at that point. I want their D so gassed they can't even come out for the 2nd half. And don't kid yourself. Swoopes can rip off 15-20 yd runs if we get the right blocking and he can make one guy miss. Time to go beast mode on those cali weenies.

I think if they aren't stopping the run, the 18 wheeler package will be featured a lot. You aren't going to have the big play out of that package unless one of the RBs pops a long run. That package is your clock eater. Swoopes may take a shot or two, but the pass isn't going to be a big threat unless they just abandon pass coverage.

Shane has shown to be deadly accurate with the deep ball so if he's in there taking shots with a productive run game there are going to be a lot of short drives ending up with our defense right back on the field.

Looks like a lot of Cal fans are fearing our running game and especially the 18 Wheeler..

Just looked at the sack count for both UC games. Hawaii sacked the QB 4 times and SD State 2. If we can get in the back field it WILL be along night for California's QB. Which I bet we'll be camped out most of the night in their backfield!

The biggest thing that will help our pass rush, not having to face the threat of a QB scramble. Watching the first two games (especially the ND game) the D-line was playing more to contain the QB and less to get by the o-line and pressure. Against a running QB, if Dlinemen are getting up field, while LBs are dropping back into coverage, you can easily open up a large rushing lane for the QB. This week, the D-line will be cut loose a bit more often to get upfield and out of their lanes to get to the QB.

We should be able to say pick your poison on offense. The only thing that has me worried is we have been very sloppy with penalties these first two games, and our defense is giving up a lot of big plays. This is a game were we would play some ball control, but that's not really this offenses MO.

In the case of Fe-Cal, I would say pick your poison is pretty accurate, however if I were Cal, I' would load the box and make Texas prove it can beat them long. Their only hope is that SB has a bad day or their Dline can apply pressure. The guy I really love in this game is the guy that killed them last year. Jerrod Heard should have another amazing day, I would try to get him at lease 10 touches in this game,

They they loaded the box and still couldn't stop SDSU's running game.

Cumbie understand what our offense is. I imagine what they will do is exactly what UTEP did. On normal down and distance plays, they will load the box but drop their CB's pretty far off the line. Gives them the best chance to slow down the run game but not get burned deep. With that said though, there is a third choice of poison with Texas. We will run quick slants and screens, and eat them alive with it all day. Not to mention, when Heard (or Duvernay?) catch the ball near the line, they are still a threat to take it to the house. I expect, much like with UTEP, that they are going to make Texas be methodical to start, until the game starts to tilt our way, then they will press one way or another, and they will be punished.

From Barking Carnival-

Unsurprisingly, three of his four touchdowns came on switch routes. Texas inside receivers also caught 14 of Buechele's 22 completions. An important message was sent that playing off Burt and Foreman can still be punished vertically by the Texas offense.

Texas will win 52-24 in a Blitzfest. Our D will be bringing blitzes from every direction and our Aussie will get plenty of rest since I don't expect us to punt much. We will play at least 10-12 different DBs to stay fresh and we will have two pics and two fumble recoveries. Expect Colin Johnson to have a lot of playing time since he and brother Kirk are from Cali.

If they play off the wideouts, then you take the 5-7 yds and throw outside to Burt and Foreman. You force them to load the box and play press coverage and then throw over the top. I have full confidence Buechele can win this game for us if we need to go deep.

Saw one Cal fan say it will be nice to "Whip Texas bad AGAIN" - which I assume he is talking about last years 1 point win and the 1st win Cal has over Texas ever i think..... and then the grand-daddy of them all... one poster said "SDSU has the BEST defense in the country so Cal shouldnt have any issues with Texas"..... i tried to post and stay nice... I tried to bite my tongue... but damnit, I just couldnt help it and started trashing these idiots.... I mean that is beyond the level of aggy in my opinion.....

SMFH... if I ever start sounding that rediculous I would ask that the posters of this board get together and put me out of my misery lol.

Best defense in the country? Making excuses for poor play calling and poor decisions by Webb. You don't even pretend like you are going to run, then you wonder why your QB is throwing into double coverage all night? Yea, Webb got his yards, but he also had three interceptions and a bunch of three and outs. The exact thing you can't do with a tempo offense is give the ball back very quickly to the other team and put your D back on the field.

Fan is short for fanatic, so by definition delusional pretty much sums up every fan. Besides most of that crazy talk is tongue and cheek you find those same posts here the night before ND, TCU, and ISU took us behind the woodshed last season.
