Imagine being an employee trying to do your job and getting called into your bosses office for something like this. After explaining what happened and how it was not intentional and not meant as a disrespect to anyone, they still want to reprimand you because of the political climate. Maybe not fire you but make you put out some kind of apology or something to look like they take it seriously. You're basically being used as a sacrifice to please the mob. I'd probably quit and find another job too. That being said, I bet there is more to the story...
He resigned. Not sure if it was by force or his choice. He may have told them to F off and walked out while they were trying to figure out how to reprimand him.An apology would have sufficed. Especially when they use the word with each other and it's every other word in rap music. Yet the word is "so offensive". There was no reason for Gundy to have been forced to resign or fired.

Yeah kinda what I’m thinking as wellThere has to be more to the story than what is being said publicly.
I think you’re reading it wrong. There was only one instance but he repeated the words multiple times. It was lyrics to a rap song and he was just reading off the IPad.
as I suspected looks like there is more to the story. Sounds like this wasn’t the one and only time. Thought Gundy was trying to sell that a little hard
I’ve never understood this “well black people say it so what’s the problem” argument. First of all by that logic why do we have any rules at all then? People are going to do it anyway. More to the point though it doesn’t matter weather black people use it or not. Just don’t say the word. It’s not that hard. I’m 36 years old that word has never left my mouth, my parents are on their late 50’s I’ve never heard that word leave their mouth as far as I know. Doesn’t matter If you agree with it or not. Just don’t say if and you won’t have a problem. It’s not hard.So Venables states, "Gundy used a racially charged word that is objectionable to everyone". If the word is no "objectionable", why do black people use it so freely? If the word is so offensive, shouldn't the use of it in any form, regardless of demographic/race, be "objectionable"? There seems to be a double standard and different set of rules for certain people about who says it and how it's said.
Ah got ya. Yeah you are right, but that’s still stupid. He knew it was wrong(he says he knew) and still went on to read it multiple times. Still though to go all the way to resignation over this there is more to the story we aren’t getting and probably never willI think you’re reading it wrong. There was only one instance but he repeated the words multiple times. It was lyrics to a rap song and he was just reading off the IPad.
Here's my deal, if Venables wants to be fair he needs to lay down the law right now that going forward if anyone on the team uses that word or a derivative of it, they're gone on the spot.Venables better win the B12. The OU fanbase is very spoiled. If they fade, the wrath will be severe from the fans.
Huh? I'm a little confused here. The people using the "black people say it argument" ARE saying that it's wrong no matter who utters the word. Everyone knows its wrong to use that term. The point is with how the punishment is applied. Gundy has to resign while black players routinely use that term with impunity and are never punished.I’ve never understood this “well black people say it so what’s the problem” argument. As I suspected from the beginning though there is a lot more to the story and this wasn’t a one time thing.
Can't fire the black players though my man. Would be the end of cfb and the NFL especially the NFL who runs and has complete control of the cfb show now.Huh? I'm a little confused here. And it's a huge sell to the enormous knucklehead population incubating with this administration.Lol, this debate over a word always cracks me up because it makes it painfully obvious who has never been very close with a black dude. I don't mean "My black neighbor watches football with me." That's a friend, but you're not very close. There's a major difference between -ger and -ga.
White suburban women is where 90% of our social fights originate and are perpetuated. Jesus, everyone needs to quit stoking an old flame and let the damn fire die out once and for all. Unless you're rocking a pointy hat, this stuff isn't even much concern outside of the media. Racism sells.
This is laughable. They tell them in so many words that they aren't cutting it, they won't be playing, and a transfer is the best thing for them. This is what I mean when a player is processed. If players are going to be paid, they are going to have to perform. If they don't perform, they are cut.... or processed off the team. Can't fire the black players though my man. Would be the end of cfb and the NFL especially the NFL who runs and has complete control of the cfb show now.
I agree man. NIL is really a knife that can cut both ways. And really, any team in the Top 10 shoud have the expectation of a Playoff appearance or NC every year. If players are getting paid they are under a whole new era of expectations. And for the record Cale is done with and he said something not acceptable, it is what it is but these OU players are in for some critiquing this year I guaranteeThis is laughable. They tell them in so many words that they aren't cutting it, they won't be playing, and a transfer is the best thing for them. This is what I mean when a player is processed. Well that was bugs bunny. Left at albequerqe. This is laughable. They tell them in so many words that they aren't cutting it, they won't be playing, and a transfer is the best thing for them.
