California running back is off the table

Or actually show an ability to run the ball to get interest.

There was a story in the last couple of days that Darrian Brown is doing so well he may be able to practice this fall. He wouldn't be able to play this year but don't rule him out for 2020.

Can you share that story, I haven't seen it and would love to. Wishing the best for that young man

There are so many great RBs out there this year it's crazy. We could miss out on all 4 of the 5'star kids and still get a great back that can go for 2000 in a season. That is how deep this running back class is.

Here is how I see this class.

1. Kendall Milton - Dude is Adrian Peterson with better cutting ability. Too bad he is basically off the table.
2. Zach Evans - Honestly he reminds me more of Cedric Benson. A total Workhorse.
3. Bijan Robinson - If I compared his to anyone it would probably be a guy like Marcus Allen just a guy that does it all and looks very smooth in the process. I don't think you can rely on him to carry the ball 20 times a game.
4. Seth McGowan - Honestly my second favorite back he is in most years the best back in the state and he still might be. Watch his film. He also reminds me of Cedric Benson. He is does not possess that extra gear but never gets run down, just like El Ced. He sees the field really well and is great at using his blockers. He is a guy that can carry the ball 15-20 times a game.
5. Jase McClellan - I always said, beware of Aledo backs, if you go by on the field production he is right up there with Milton and Evans, but this is Aledo where they always have a ton of great players surrounding him. He is actually my candidate as a guy that has topped out in the high school level. With that said, he is still a great back and would be a guy that can give you 1000 yards a year every year he is here. I'd call him another Chris Ogbonnaya.

There are others backs, but these are the guys Texas has the best shot at. Good news is Clemson got their man as did Oklahoma. I am pulling for Bama to get Milton as I see them as the biggest obstacle to getting Evans. Of Course still looming large is LSU and right now they have a lot of momentum. Ohio State is the biggest obstacle to getting Bijan Robinson.

I am extremely confident we get one of these guys.

So this kid out of CA doesn't want to go to TX? Big deal there's plenty of great rb's out there and I'm confident Coach Herman and his staff will bring one of them to Austin.

From IT-
"2019 Buford (GA) running back and Texas signee Derrian Brown is making incredible progress and as wild as this sounds there's hope he could practice this fall. We know, it sounds wild but Brown's camp and team sources are cautiously optimistic that he'll return to the field after a red-shirt season."][/SPOILER]

With the lineman that are committed and the hopes of 1 or 2 more studs they will make a 2 ⭐️ look like a 4/5!

Benson ran the football like an acid trip. Very little at first but by the fourth quarter, the defense was tripping balls. If there were five quarters in a football game that guy would have run for two hundred yards in the fifth quarter alone. Everyone around him got tired and he just got stronger.

Welp----- we better get that kid out of houston that MM was so impressed with or we could have a bit of a struggle running the ball in the future.

I do think landing anything less than a 5 star in this class will be a major disappointment.

Zack Evans is the top dog, overall number 1 recruit. Who knows where he is leaning at any given time. I think he is really good but does perhaps come with some baggage.

Milton not only eliminated us in his Top 4 but also OU. The thought was if he went to OU, which was the top pick for a while, Jase McClellan would become an even more possible flip.

Jase is a great RB, but has been committed to OU for a while now. With Milton going elsewhere, it is more likely he sticks there.

Outside of Evans, I think our best chance for a 5 star is Bijan Robinson, out of Az. He has some legit interest and we will keep pushing hard with him.

How many times did you take acid?

Why don't we just buy a RB like everyone else does? We got enough money to buy 4 fing teams of All Americans if we want instead of kissing these young HS NFL wannabes asses

I believe there are 5 running backs that are rated 5 star in this class nationally. I'm not the only person that sees how deep this runningback class is. This runningback class is pretty special. However, just because I compare a back to another back doesn't mean I'm comparing talent just running style.

I have gone on record as saying that Milton is an Adrian Peterson clone with better moves, I stand by that. Go look at junior video of peterson and then watch Milton.

Being compared to El Ced, isn't all that. He was never a great back, good yes, but he was never great.

When I compare 5'star runningback Bijan Robinson to Marcus Allen, it was merely as to his running style and how fluid he moves, what old video of Marcus Allen and then watch Robinson, you will see what I mean.

In my estimation there are about 12 guys nationally that are pretty special in this class.

Winning with integrity is so overrated.
This post reminded me of a back and forth I was having with my old friend @Scholz years ago and we were arguing wins/losss and recruiting, to which he proclaimed, “well at least we lose with good kids” Classic. I believe that was during the Strong era.

You guys laud Bud and Barry. Two prolific cheaters and in Barry's case just completely ignored guns, drugs, etc. And then there is the whole Joe Mixon situation. Amazing what winning will make you ignore, so it makes sense that you would laugh at a post about not wanting to cheat.

Uh you missed the whole irony if you think you only recruited “good kids” which has been debunked many times. OU and Texas recruit the same players, Texas has been better at keeping the bad apples in line, don’t kid yourself. I do agree, Mixon should have been booted though.

Yes, I know. Ramonce Taylor comes to mind. He got booted and he was insanely talented. No irony missed. Vince Young got fired from the University for getting in trouble. However, Barry is still welcomed with open arms by anyone and everyone because he won football games. Difference of opinion I guess.

So are you saying Vince isn’t welcome with open arms? Seriously? He got fired from a university job but if you don’t think he’s revered by the Horn faithful then you should consider profiting from what you’re smoking. I guarantee Vince will be seen on your sidelines next year. Are you saying he’s been banned or something? Btw I don’t think Vince is a bad guy I just think his priorities are not maybe where they should be but that’s his business, he’s not causing me an issue.

A big fyi...... Texas and OU are pikers compared to the $ec. We better step up our game or find a way to get the whole $ec busted at once. They are outspending us by a large margin.

So, here is the thing. I don't drink and there isn't anyone who dislikes people who drink and drive as much as me, as I lost a close member of my family to a drunk driver. However I do realize and understand that people make mistakes when it comes to having too many drinks and getting behind the wheel. I also believe it is a habit, then jail time is the right thing to do. However there is a huge difference between getting behind a wheel and knocking out a woman, or putting your best friend in a coma. There is a really big difference when guns are involved or dealing cocaine.

Oklahoma guys have crossed some lines and it was all happening under bootlegger boy's watch.

Again, Texas and OU recruit the same players, Texas has done a better job of keeping the bad apples caged. I guess Bobino turned bad after he left? No

Texas had it's share of bad apples, but we aren't in the same zip code as some of the blOwU bad apples. Our guys are get kicked out of school bad, your guys were serious jail time bad.
