Hi everyone,
Just asking if anyone has information on how to handle this situation.
Four weeks ago or so, a guy came flying into me at an intersection and did a good amount of damage to the hatchback of my car. I pulled into a parking lot, got his information, and called my insurance company to file a claim with his. I didn't call the police since I wasn't hurt, which was obviously a mistake on my part at this point.
Today, I finally heard back from MY insurance opening a claim because it had been denied due to his insurance being canceled before he hit me.
I'm not thrilled with pursuing this repair through my insurer and having it affect my rates when I was sitting at a red light when the guy plowed into me, but is it worth calling the police or tracking the guy down to try and get the money? I can't imagine he has anything to pay me with.
Thanks in advance for any insight you all have.
