It’s past time for CFB and the NFL to have the same rules regarding penalties, clock, challenges, down by contact, etc. I wouldn’t want the new NFL kickoff rules, but other than that, they need to be the same.
Was just thinking about the Georgia game and how different some big plays/calls would have been if CFB had the same rules as the NFL. Mainly two plays come to mind: the deep pass that resulted in a defensive PI call on Georgia only being 15 yards, rather than a spot foul. Wingo’s 4th down catch being short. In the NFL he could have gotten up or rolled for the first since no one was near him.
We are gradually adding things like the 2 min warning (timeout for copyright), why not add spot fouls for PI, illegal contact and down by contact.
