Charlie Strong to USF,agreement

He was hired on his Louisville resume - read all the articles about his hire. I hope he is successful there, otherwise he might not get another opportunity as a HC. Good luck Coach Strong & I hope you are more successful at USF than Louisville (except for games against Texas)!

couldn't be a better 'fit'.. have this inkling he will borderline sell his soul to redeem the time in Austin

Don't think he'll have too. He'll do fine at USF not having to be a CEO and a coach is perfect for him right now. Good Luck to him!

doesnt make a damn to me who pays it......it is money that could be going to facility upgrade.

If Texas wanted to update facilities, they could update facilities. Whatever we are paying Strong isn't what is preventing that.

Here is what is preventing it.

1. The hiring of a new AD, Perrin isn't going to start a huge project like that when he won't be here to finish it.

2. A plan of what we want to do

3. Any new project will sit behind what Texas is doing with the Erwin Center.

Thank heavens most of his players would be gone in 2020, I'd hate for USF to beat Texas and the Texas players to carry him off the field.
That's messed up but a very good possibility!! I bet BLH is already threatening the naysayers on the USF message boards.

It will be interesting. There is no rebuild excuse as he is taking over a successful program where the previous coach moved up. Not that USF has Texas sized expectations but they probably are expecting more wins early on.

LOL..he cant get away from the Horns....

One thing that concerns me. Coaching at the University of Texas can suck the life out of a man. Fred Akers and John Macovic tried coaching at other schools after they were let go and failed miserably.

But coach Strong is in FL and he is back in the state where he had his biggest success. He had a great track record bringing FL boys to KY and play for him at Louisville. He brought some good kids from there to TX. I'll wager that he knows a lot of the hs coaches there and has a good relationship with them. And FL is second only to TX in producing quality hs talent. I'll be pulling for him.

Well, that and being a bad coach. Look, Strong looks to be a coach with no identity whatsoever. How many offensive systems did he go through at Texas? 3? yes. He quickly realized he caught lightening in a bottle with Bridgewater. Strong better find an offensive and defensive identity and stick with it and make it successful through player development if he ever wants to be taken seriously by a big time school again. Maybe he likes Gilbert, who knows and he needs to hire a D coordinator that teaches fundamentals because he apparently has fallen victim to being sloppy on fundamentals like most head coaches become, including Stoops. Just my humble opinion.

There is a BIG difference in coaching at a large P-5 football school vs smaller non-P5 commuter schools. At a large P-5 football school, the head coach is more of a CEO. He must hire competent assistant coaches that execute without micromanagement. If micromanagement is required, they must be fired or you will be. There is no time for that here. However, a head coach can get away with that at smaller non-P5 schools, where their schedule isn't as busy.

Anyone on here who's read you knows that you will never have a humble opinion.

Your derogatory tone to me leads me to believe that I WON'T be getting a Christmas present from you this year? Am I reading you wrong? It's ok though because I don't celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Festivus instead.
