Per twitter---

Reports now coming out that the big cigars---- I mean the big boudins at LSU have charlie at the top of their wish list.

Sooooo LSU picks up option on years 4 and 5 for charlie- charlie gets to go back to his "pro set" ground and pound offense-- gets to play aggy after all..... errbody wins!

Who is saying that on twitter? Anyone worthwhile or just some random dude trying to get followers?

Didn't something like this come out about this time last year. Ridiculous. If Strong gets fired he's going to be damaged goods for the forseeable future (as it pertains to a top job). He will have no problem getting a lower tier P5 or a mid major gig.

LSU is certainly setting their sights much higher than Charlie Strong. Remember they fired Miles very early so they got the early jump on Herman. Not saying they will land him but they did get the head start.

Charlies agent doing work

Either that or just the random twitter crap that somehow society thinks if it's on the internet it must be true.

Not really sure how Charlie's agent floating stuff like this benefits Charlie, but I guess it doesn't really hurt either.

It could put doubt in the players heads. I've seen a few post from players stating they stand behind him. If his agent is putting out feelers could make the players feel he's given up on them and is ready to move on. I doubt this is true but just saying!

If you can put a value on a person, it never hurts.

Like Herman's players, except Strong would have to be fired more than likely for something like this to come to fruition.

Lets say it is ture and he somehow manages to get Ed Ogeron to stay. You will have two of the best closers in the recruiting game 3 and a half hours from downtown Houston at a school that is easier to get into than UT. Strong has shown he can recruit Texas Louisiana and Florida. Look at the talent he manged to bring in after a losing season with rumors that his job was on the line. This would not be good for us.

That's exactly what LSU has had the past few years with Miles and Orgeron. That is funny you saying you would feel threatened with Charlie being at LSU.

I was just about to say that. We can say good riddance all we want but if he we're to move on to LSU. All the inroads he has made in Texas will only increase more kids going to LSU. UT will lose its recruiting classes because most of the kids and family are buying into Strong plan. I know most folks on here are impatient but being impatient can set our program back another 10 years

Yeah Strong going to LSU would probably be bad news the way he recruits. I do think Strong having a landing spot is the way this could all shake out and allow everyone to save face

My question to you. Do you think this would help UT? Do you think players would transfer?

It looks like Charlie has a great relationship with his players and their families. I imagine some would. Especially if UT starts to look disorganized in the coaching search

I think black athletes might be reluctant to sign with a school that fired it's first black coach. Be careful what you wish for.

That's the thing I see with that. We are already in a rebuild mode for the past 6 years. If we make a move and decide to let him go. It could be a backlash. Then comes the coaching search. Just a lot of what ifs. I feel that UT should let Strong finish his fourth year and with no improvement be fired after that year. That would be the only way to make it a fair termination and a good look on the program and with families and kids.

Are you guys really pining for Charlie and his 14-17 record? Hey, I'm rooting for him, but have you seen that defense? He's not the only guy that can recruit.

Sitting out a year is too big a penalty. A few may but the reports are always exaggerated

Would Strong be the first black coach to ever be fired? If not, I think you might want to look at those programs and see how difficult is was for them to recruit black athletes the following year.

ND had a top 10 class after firing Willingham.

I think charlie would have been a better fit at Miami, personally. He knows Florida and can recruit there. Plus, LSU is one of those jobs where you're going to have to pound you head against the "saban" wall for the near future.

It depends on "how" he's fired. If Strong pulls out 8 wins or somehow wins out, and we're to get fired Texas would likely get quite a bit of backlash. If he wins 5-6 games I don't think there would be a ton of backlash

I wonder if LSU were to land Jimbo I wonder if FSU is a landing spot for Strong

There will be backlash from folks that say he signed a 5 year deal to rebuild and clean up UT and he gets fired in year 3-4. There are people that say what Earl said, leave him alone an let him do his job...

I agree with that. But a 5-7 or 6-6 year makes it easy to justify than say if he gets to 8 or wins out. I think this Saturday and next are key for him

I have two thoughts on this.

1. Charlie would bring Gilbert and his offense to LSU, a team really wanting a high powered offense.

2. Charlie snags Wilson, Little and a host of other recruits that had both Texas and LSU in their top 5.

Charlie Strong in the SEC is more within his element than Charlie Strong in the Big 12. Keep in mind, Charlie is still a good coach, just not right for Texas. It's another reason I thought Charlie at UofH would be a hell of a pickup for them.

Third thought, (I know I said two.) is that this is smoke and mirrors to make Texas want to take a step back and keep Charlie so LSU can get their top guy.

I say, just let the season play out and see what happens, we aren't letting go of a 10 win Charlie Strong. Same with a 9 win. 8 is 50/50, and 7 is 75/25. Anything less than 7 wins and he is gone and rightfully so.

all I know is Charlie said he was going to take over the defense and all of a sudden I saw guys tackling. I saw guys rushing the passer. I dont give a damn if it was Iowa State....I hadnt seen that for 2 years. If we do those things and allow our amazingly young offense to mature just a bit, I like our chances.....Kool aide?...maybe, but if we regress this week against K State then I suspect we are done with the if onlys....and need to look to the future.

I'm on the same page with you. Our linebackers are still a bit lost out there but at lease the DBs have cheat sheets to get them close to the right place. Like I said, we have nothing but cupcakes on the road for the rest of the year, we should win two of the 3.

The real challenge is protecting our house. two of our last 3 teams are undefeated. I expect us to serve notice and win those three games. If our players love Strong and want to keep him then that is what needs to be done.

Keep in mind we didn't fire Mack and we didn't fire Macovich. We reassigned them, and thus paid them to golf or design a golf course.

For Charlie to take another job would mean giving up the last two years of his pay.

Pass me a glass. I will drink it with you. I loved seeing 8 sacks but could have easily been 10-12. I don't care who they are playing. That is a good stat right there.
