Charlie to.......LSU

Pass me a glass. I will drink it with you. I loved seeing 8 sacks but could have easily been 10-12. I don't care who they are playing. That is a good stat right there.

Don't bogart the hooch....pour me about 3 fingers of the same stuff you and oldhorn are drinking....

As a Tiger fan, I can't see this happening. Charlie can't win at Texas and he won't win in the SEC. Could see him at Kentucky. Vanderbilt or another mid-major.
Charlie ain't going anywhere once he reaches that 7 win pinnacle this year. LSU with wishful thinking on this one...

Of the 6 remaining games, I have BU and WV as the least likely for a W.

Most likely KU followed by:
Tech
TCU
KSU
BU
WV

I don't care where the wins come from, if he wants to keep the job he will win 5 of the last 6 games. If he doesn't he will probably go 6-6 and be re-assigned.

KU is the only gimme. The rest are losable. Of those 5 we probably go 3-2 at best.

4-2 gets us to 7 and if we win our bowl game then we are at 8 wins. I highly doubt we fire him at 8 wins, but who knows. Maybe I shouldn't say highly doubt, I'd say 50/50 he is fired.

How many here would be happy with an 8 win season?

It's not up to me but I have always said, my magic number is 9 wins.

7 wins is probably the worst thing that can happen to this team, it's not getting the job done but it's too much to fire him after 3 seasons.

There is no way in my opinion that he's fired after 8 wins. Closing out the season like that would actually be taking steps forward as a program. I wouldn't want to roll those dice just because Herman may be off the table.

This season would be a disappointment but I would be impressed with how he closed out. That would warrant keeping his job imo.

Aaaaaaand in this "bowl game" if we are 7-5---- we are likely to end up in the Alamo bowl against a team like nebraska or whisky----

Most people would take 8 wins and be satisfied. This year was always about showing improvement, nothing has changed. So far he has not shown much improvement but he still has half the season left to get it done. If he goes 5 and 1 the rest of the way (not counting a bowl) I would consider that improvement.

Maybe a sunbelt championship game. This fan base is way too obsessed with Leach. He was awesome for his soundbites not his coaching. His stupid go for it on 4th decisions offset any kind of offensive prowess he may possess.

7 wins means we finished 5-2. It would also mean Charlie fixed the defense, which is the only way we win 5 more games. Maybe the changes on defense were too late for this season but we would be in a good spot starting next year. At 7-5, and possibly 8-5 with a bowl win, Charlie closes strong with probably his best recruiting class yet. He would start off 2017 with an offense that finally has an identity and a QB, an effective defense, and a roster that at least has 3 complete classes from which to draw talent.

If things go south and we win 5 or 6 he's in real trouble, though, if it were up to me I'd still give him a 4th yr.

Seriously? If there was no improvement you wouldn't go from 5 to 8 wins

yeah....I was gonna say that. 8 wins would show a great improvement. The offense appears to have barely scratched the surface and in order to get to 8 from here the defense would have to be much improved as well. less than 8 does cause a problem I will admit.

I agree. This season is all about improvement. The frustrating thing is that the defense has not improved, yet we have a years more experience with most of our young players. The offense is night and day, so that is good. However, we are 3-3 and I have no idea how we close out the season. If I were to guess, I would say we go 4-2 the rest of the season beating ksu, tech,ku,tcu.

That was my point. At the beginning of the year almost everyone wanted to see improvement and take that improvement to next year and make a run for the big 12. The win over ND made most peoples expectations skyrocket to lets do it all this year, then the realization that we are not there yet in the next few weeks was hard to swallow. In the grand scheme of things 8 wins should be enough to keep him here. I have doubts he can get it done but he is not a lame duck coach yet.

i kinda had us at 3-3 at this point and running the table the rest of the way. of course, i thought oklahoma would be better, ok state would be what wv has turned out to be, & the third loss to nd. as many of you have pointed out, this may be the tell-tale game-- are we tough enough to beat a snyder team at his stadium? win there. beat kansas. i think baylor is over-valued and will face a media onslaught when they come to austin. mahomes is good but they are certainly beatable. tcu doesn't appear to be the same as the last two years, and we get them at home. and wv is coming here. it is POSSIBLE we run the table. i would say LIKELY if i completely believed the defense had figured things out.

and it can go that way, through simplification or just holding feet to the fire. manny diaz' awful defenses became greg robinson's solid defenses in two weeks. don't think, just play.

I don't think there is anything to this false rumor, but if you are a UT fan and want them to succeed, you don't talk up rumors of HC leaving. This hurts recruiting and that is the lifeblood of a good program.
