Not Clob, but Texas is better than Maryland. Texas screwed around and let Maryland beat them last year, and have the game circled on the schedule. And mainly, Maryland is a shit show after coaches basically killed a player. Score early and they will roll over, can you blame them?
Clob mainly based that off of what he thinks will be a negative impact of the turmoil in Maryland. He even said he added a win to his season prediction for Texas after the Maryland news broke. So he had us losing that game until then.
I can't remember how big of a factor this would be (I would have to re-watch the game), but, Herman was 0-4 on 4th down conversions in that game as I reviewed the stats the other day. He went for it 4 different times on 4th down and came up empty. I am guessing he wanted to set a tone for his team and an attitude of his forthcoming era.

And the defense played bad. I had expected the defense to be pretty good, and they got ran over. Orlando changed something, and they were obviously pretty darn good going forward. I don't see a repeat of that against Maryland. Maybe not quite as good as last year for the season, but game 1 will be much better. You guys have some talent.
I don't care if I sound like a broken record last year they had the little ten zebras who called every possible penalty on is and they hardly touched MD. This year we have the zebras and we'll see how they like it.
I want to avg 30+ this year. And not have to rely on defensive scores.

For this game, scoring atleast 35 will make me feel comfortable on the outcome. I do think we can top 40 if we get a ST or Defensive big play. While Canada runs a lot of motion/shifts...it was Walt Bell who orchestrated their tempo/QB runs last year that caused us fits. We won't have to worry about that as much this year. It would be absolutely fantastic if we ran at will on them with Watson/Young/Ingram. Would lead to some big passing plays as well. I know I'm overly optimistic but we'll see on Saturday.

Our zebras aren't that bad. When it comes to non con games I want them to hit the other team with everything but the kitchen sink. Why not that's what the other conference teams do.
Sounds reasonable. But if texas gets up by a couple scores early, I think it will be more lopsided than that. Couple quick scores and I bet they give up, been thru soo much.
They'll fight for a half at least. It's the opening game and still a whole season to play for. I think what you're describing is what I'm expecting in the 2nd half.

Watching Canada's press conference they are rudderless without Durkin. Investigators are still interviewing players this week. Go up a couple of quick scores and most likely they'll fold.
Weather related turnovers should be the biggest threat to the Horns in this game.
I don't expect that to be a problem. TH is always speaking about protecting the ball and I believe that he pays a lot of detail to it as well as communicating it to players in practice. I think we will be okay here.
