We shoulda sold half of DKR to get Dabo instead of Herman...hope he does well or they will run his ass off like Charlies, this is what happens when you got the BOR's making the decisions about FB, very hard to watch the bowls and Texas not being in one, a case of idiots with money making decisions, in 60 yrs of Longhorn FBI never seen shit like this happen to the Horns FB, close but, not this bad, I know one thing, you get what you pay for in Fb coaches

Geez, FB give Herman a chance. The man hasn't coached one game at Texas and you're already sour and negative on him. It was very doubtful that Dabo would have even considered coming to Texas regardless of what he was offered anyway.

Everyone has Dabo slated to return to his alma mater, Bama, when Saban retires.

No offense but Texas had no chance of getting Dabo, regardless of how much money you threw at him. I don't think Dabo is ever leaving Clemson. I really don't believe he would even consider taking the Bama job even though he played football here. He's building something special at Clemson.

I will MM honestly! I just don't think he's the one in my heart to turn this shit steamroller around, I hope I am wrong , the longer we go like this the more it hurts our program, so I hope I am wrong..I still think we coulda bought Dabo, just throw the money at him and not chump change, I mean Saban money...

I think under Herman Texas will become a good football team again, maybe not great but Good. The dark ages of Texas Football will be a thing of the past.Herman has years of coaching and recruiting in the state of Texas which will benefit him in rebuilding the program.

Sounds like chip Kelly is gonna get fired. Wonder if that puts a coach or two who was gonna get one more year on the chopping block

Seriously....Chip Kelly???...What has he ever done to make anyone think he is the next coming? Being a failed NFL coach does not mean he could be the next Saban.....Really....what has he ever done?

He was 46-7 overall in college and 33-3 in the PAC 12 has won a rose and fiesta bowl and been to a National title game. So he's been pretty successful at the college level. Not sure why anyone would question his college ability.

i'd put money on Dabo to Bama when Saban leaves.. the fit is almost perfect for both parties.

He was raised in Bama, played for Bama and is about 17yrs younger than Saban.

agree that he is building something special at Clemson, but Clemson doesn't come close to offering all phases of football that Bama can.

edit: all things realistically considered, we got our man.

When Saban retires, I'm ready for Bama to become just a good team again. Also, the day is coming, if not already there, that the $EC will become just another conference and not the top dog. They won't be on top forever.

^^ hear ya.

Bama's current run is off the charts, no way can that strong momentum continue. Thought they would be running out of juice this season however seem to be as hungry as ever..

SEC will slip but not as long as other conferences, to much talent down their in the true South coupled with their ability to cherry pick other states.

This. I guess if you haven't won a national championship then you haven't accomplished anything.

yeah, I know what he did at Oregon, but I have to wonder if Phil Knight didnt have more to do with that than Kelly. Oregon has the top rated facilities and those Whamodine unis, but I dont know what other "incentives" recruits got for going there. Didnt Kelly leave Oregon under a cloud of suspicion, or even probation? I dont trust guys like that.

Kelly was shady at Oregon no doubt. It's fine to question him under those merits. I believe he did have a show cause which is expired now. He's also lost his mojo and coaches don't often get that back when that happens, so there is certainly stuff not to like. I wouldn't say he's the second coming, but it's pretty ridiculous to dismiss his run at Oregon as "what has he ever done"

i wonder if sam gilbert had anything to do with john wooden's success? well, yes. players matter. if they didn't, krzyzewski wouldn't need 1.5 mil budget to recruit 3 kids a year.

kelly can coach, and the nay-sayers are the same ones that questioned the moneyball theories. people don't like change. especially with those invested in the status quo

Actually, you usually get a lot less than you pay for in football coaches.

Before Kelly they were a solid program. Usually 7-9 wins with a couple 11 win years mixed in. After Kelly they haven't been very good. So I'm sure knights money helps but Chip took the program to a new level.

Look....I know Kelly can coach, and his offenses were cutting edge. I was just never sure what he could have done had he been legal.

That could be said of everyone. Every school is bending the rules. Just a matter of how much bending

Kelly was paying players....you dont get a show cause from the NCAA for spitting on the sidewalk.I disagree that every school does what he did at Oregon.

Every school is doing it. The coach may not have anything to do with it or even know it's going on but it's happening. I mean look I'm as critical of the sham on the players that is college athletics. However it's not as pure as. Lot of people want to think. There is some shady shit going on everywhere.

I'm hearing chip Kelly and Gary Kubiak are heading to college station to be coordinators for Sumlin......and it has to be true cause AtM fans say so

With Kelly being out there. I wonder if a school like A&M who has a coach clearly on the bubble if the chance to get him makes the choice different.

Proof? To assume every school is dishonest and the coaches are corrupt is just plain wrong. Bending the rules is breaking the rules by the way. I think some schools cheat and I think most don't.

Never said all coaches were corrupt. In fact I said the coaches may not even know it's going on. There are to many agents, boosters and groupies hanging around to think it's not going on. Take the Ohio state situation that got tresses fired. Dudes were selling their stuff for free tats. Doesn't make the program dirty. Just the facts of the system. Is every guy doing stuff like that? No but more are then get caught that's for sure.

Every school does it but the coaches don't know a thing? I find that harder to believe than every school does it. Also just for the heck of it you said every school does it.....so if every school does it then someone at the school has to know about it....coaches, staff, or boosters. Afterall for the school to know someone at the school has to do it.
Dudes were selling their stuff for free tats
This is NOT what got Tressell fired. He LIED about what went on to keep his players eligible. If he had not lied it is a minor violation. Players selling their stuff for tats is not a school breaking the rules, it is a player breaking the rules.....that he probably did not know about.

Is every guy doing stuff like that? No but more are then get caught that's for sure.
You said every school is doing it. Don't say it if that is not what you meant. I am not being picky. I just answered your post. Not finding fault with you on purpose. People say one thing then turn around and say they did not say that is one of my pet peeves.

Not everyone does it. There are honest people in this world. And this all goes back to Chip Kelly who PAID for recruits to be steered to Oregon....not minor violations that are accidental in nature. If Tressell told the truth he would not have gotten in any trouble and Ohio St. would have not gotten in trouble. Just some suspension of the players involved.

This is the favorite saying of cheaters in general to justify their own actions. ou is world renowned for this saying. They cheat so that means everyone cheats and that means it is ok. It is not.
