Coaches

When I say not every guy is doing it. I mean not every player on every team. But it is going on at every major program. Someone is doing something.

I don't subscribe to the idea that the coach knows everything that goes on. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen though

Yes tressel got fired for lying but the actions of the players is what started the ball rolling.

We shoulda sold half of DKR to get Dabo instead of Herman...hope he does well or they will run his ass off like Charlies, this is what happens when you got the BOR's making the decisions about FB, very hard to watch the bowls and Texas not being in one, a case of idiots with money making decisions, in 60 yrs of Longhorn FBI never seen shit like this happen to the Horns FB, close but, not this bad, I know one thing, you get what you pay for in Fb coaches

Hook'em

Are we (you) still on this subject? We (TEXAS) hired our coach it's done and time to put this we should of could of crap to bed.

This is our new staff! Let's get to work!

Hook 'Em

Never said all coaches were corrupt. In fact I said the coaches may not even know it's going on. There are to many agents, boosters and groupies hanging around to think it's not going on. Take the Ohio state situation that got tresses fired. Dudes were selling their stuff for free tats. Doesn't make the program dirty. Just the facts of the system. Is every guy doing stuff like that? No but more are then get caught that's for sure.
Good points. And if you recall, Colt McCoys wife blurted some things that she was aware going on at UT with agents etc. Not saying Mack was hiding anything but agents and other people have a way of infiltrating.

Uh and what would have been her motivation? By all accounts she is a respected person? Keep your head in the sand all you want but it was fully reported on, a simple google search will reveal her exact quotes.

it was fully reported on
So there had to be an investigation and Texas is on some sort of probation? Because you aren't finishing that story out. You pick up something you want to be true and run with it. Got proof? ou gets caught regularly so you are telling us ou just sucks at cheating? Everyone does not cheat. Gets old hearing that nonsense. Also you may want to pay attention to what was said.....He said every school cheats. They do not.

So are you actually saying she lied and made that up? Yes or no? I sure didn't hear anyone call her out as lying?

Are you talking about C note handshakes and deer hunting on big private ranches? Everything she said on that radio show sorta dissipated into thin air... Impossible to prove without one of the participants testifying. There are clean programs with boosters that pride themselves on being involved with little things like this and there are dirty programs. You would be baffled at the kind of stuff players turn down and walk away from.

The above is small time, good luck pinning it on anyone.

Yes, steak dinners and hunting trips are the same as widespread no show jobs and free cars and bags of cash across the entire football program for 6 decades straight in bell's mind. Murder and jaywalking are both crimes. Everyone does it! =)roll

The same? No, but where does one end and the other begin? Nobody knows for sure Scholz, including you.

Not the same and not in the same galaxy. Your insinuations are typical cheater talk with nothing to back it up.

When you have documented proof that one of our head coaches has a literal bag of cash in his office (Wilkin$on) or buys some Mama a double wide ($witzer) or presides over a car dealership handing out cars and no show jobs like pez candy ($toops), come talk to me, $$$ooner boy.

When I was at Texas it was pretty well know which bars would give free drinks to football players, there were also instances of people offering to pick up a guys tab, or restaurant bill. What McCoys's wife was referring to is sleazy agents hanging out at these places trying to curry favor with athletes by offering to pay for food and drinks. This happens in every town with a major football program. The coaches and compliance staff have to warn kids about taking the money but in the end there isn't much they can do to prevent it. Very different than boosters walking around the locker room giving out $100 handshakes, or the envelope full of cash placed in the locker or coaches arranging payments for parents rent (Tunsil at Ole Miss).

there are only three things I know for fact about Sooners

1) they are one of the biggest if not the biggest cheaters in college football

2) they have no problem asking teams to let up in an ass whipping (USC championship game in 2004)

3) ou does and will always suck

I'm rewatching the press conference with Coach Herman, and the guys on LHN call him by the wrong name. I know it is early in his tenure, but he is the head coach...come on man!

Dude is witty and quick, the media doesn't stand a chance!
Agreed, he seems a lot more comfortable in front of a mic than Charlie ever did. Some people have that gift, and other don't. It appears that Herman does have the way with words where he can be on the verge of abrasive but still not alienate the reporters.

You see it in all types of professions, when people just get it? You can't explain it away, but they just get it. Herman appears to be that guy. He appears that he gets every level of what it takes to be successful. Also, I don't know if Charlie never asked or was told no, but the way that Herman talks about the upgrades and that administration is on board is a definite plus in my opinion. I don't know if any of you watched ESPN yesterday, but they did a walk through of the new Clemson football facility, that place is an absolute palace. They will continue to be tough to recruit against with things like that in their back pocket. $55M upgrade

I agree! Tom Herman is well informed and knowledgeable when speaking to the media. He can sell himself to the fans and reporters, I've been listening to his conferences and interviews on YouTube and I'm pretty impressed. Also watching his coaches during their time at UH coach their positions. I think we're in good hands but we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Herman press conference,He has a plan and put together a coaching staff that he has worked and won before and is determined to execute his formula for winning and I do not see the longhorns being out worked and the winning will follow.

In his press conference when he said "I can't get too close because sometimes I have to drop the hammer" was very telling. He does it kind of like a good parent. You try to set your kids up to succeed and kick them in the ass when they get out of line.......if you care about them that is.
