I have not seen anything addressing or raising this, but as I understand it, Singer got a lot of women admitted into elite schools by misrepresenting that they were athletes on obscure teams like water polo or crew (rowing) in which they never participated when they got in.
Doesn't this raise Title IX issues for those programs? Under Title IX, these schools must have athletic scholarships for women based on the number of athletic scholarships they offer in men's sports. Is a women's water polo scholarship given to someone who is not playing the sport and never participates in the team activity truly an athletic scholarship for Title IX purposes?.
I know this is not the biggest problem the schools face over this or something the government is likely to look hard at, but it interested me as an academic question.
