College Football Playoff Predictions?

UT Ga play again for the championship. Wouldn’t that be cool?
Watching all these champ games some of these teams that didn’t have to play are fortunate. They get to rest for a couple of weeks. This new playoff is set up to help teams that get a pass. Consider Ga who may have just lost their QB while winning a conference championship.
If we run into Oregon- we are in trouble.
i don’t see any of the top 12 teams, including Or with an elite D. Pa is beatable. I believe now that UT and Ga are the elite Ds going into playoff. OSU is the dark horse with the easy pass.

1 - Oregon
2 - Georgia
3 - Boise
4 - Arizona State (LOL)
5 - Texas
6 - Penn State
7 - Notre Dame
8 - Ohio State
9 - Tennessee
10 - Indiana
11 - Clemson
12 - SMU
This looks solid. Alabama doesn’t make it in.

Ga won’t make it. Beck is done.
I don’t think Georgia gets past the first round. They’ll be matched up against ND or Indiana with a limited QB.

Keep in mind that the CFP changes everything about how you compete for a championship. Winning a conference championship is nice but it’s largely irrelevant unless you’re a team that is on the bubble to make the playoffs. It’s like winning a divisional title in the NFL or a conference championship in men’s basketball. The objective is winning a national championship not a conference championship. We’re very much in the mix to compete for a title. There’s no one team out there that is head and shoulders above everyone else. It’s pretty wide open.

How many times have Super Bowl champs been won by teams that didn’t win their division? How many times has a men’s college basketball team won the championship despite losing in their conference tournament?

I’m also encouraged that our players and coaches are going into the playoffs with an intense hunger and desire to prove they’re the best team in the country. I would bet that some of these teams who won their conference titles are going to psychologically feel satisfied and fall to prepare for the grind and intensity of the playoffs. We won’t have that problem.

These playoff games are going to be much more intense than the conference championship games.

We’re going to be just fine because defense will always translate in the playoffs.

Hook em!!

I'm sorry guys. I ruined it. My apologies OB board brethren.

That said, what is the updated rankings

1 - Oregon
2 - Georgia
3 - Boise
4 - Notre Dame
5 - Texas
6 - Penn St
7 - Tennessee
8 - Ohio St.
9 - Indiana
10 - Arizona St.
11 - Alabama
12 - Clemson

I guess Notre Dame is not getting a top 4 seed....none of the predictions have them in there. I think if SMU loses they get it

My bet is we get the 5 seed and play 12 seed SMU in the first round. Rekindle another old SWC rivalry.

We would destroy them ponies then get a 2nd round matchup with Big 12 champ ASU for another revenge narrative game. These are the things that the committee thinks about when putting together the playoff bracket. It’s just as much to do with driving viewership as it is about declaring a champion.

Right now I think Phil Knight University, aka Oregon ducks, is the team to beat. The man has donated millions to Oregon athletics and football in particular. He's let the powers that be know he wants a nc before he does and he's 86.

On the serious side they've had the schedule 3 wins over playoff teams. Don't let Penn State's numbers fool you Oregon controlled the momentum the whole game. They're solid on both sides of the ball. And Dan Lanning is a nc caliber coach.

Well let me tell you guys something. If Dabo Swinney can bring his 🦓 from last night's game Clemson can win it all.

Is Lanning like Mack Brown in that he leaves up the play calling a to OC and DC, but still is the decision maker, if wanted?
Wonder what the statistics are comparing teams with both OCs and DCs play calling to ones where the Head Coach (like Sark) calls the plays for one side of the ball?

Penn State is fools gold man. The Oregon QB is legit and a huge difference for them. Nice call Vegetables, smh.

James Franklin is now 3-18 vs. Top 10 opponents. I'm really hope this is not the direction Sark is heading in as well.

Oregon is as flawed a team as anyone else. They will need to not play anyone with a pulse on both sides of the ball. Their defense is super mid. But their O can be lethal, obviously.

If we go into next year relying on CJ Baxter as our RB, I will have no restraint for Sark. Our RB's are bad. Wisener is too small, Blue fumbles, and Gibson can't block. We need D'Onte Foreman. Can we get a dude out of the portal or is Sark's offense too complicated to learn in 6 mos.?

Very few can do it. For every Pete Carroll there are 20 Gus Malzahn's and Lincoln Riley's

Bellichick didn't call defense. Saban didn't call defense. When Andy Reid gave up play calling he started winning super bowls.

Smart doesn't call defense. Dabo doesn't call offense.

It can be done, but it is extremely hard and the countless failures are overshadowed by the few successes, but isn't that just like humans. Frequency illusion...

Back the armored truck up to Ashton Jeanty's house, buy him an insurance policy underwritten by Lloyd's of London worth $50 million, win a national title in 2025.
