This years early signing period feels very different. This got me to thinking that a the GM of a college team who want to compete for ships is going to be a really hard job.
Have to decide to pay current guys(retention), develop young guys (3/4* recruits), shop the portal (instant contributors) or pay super blues(instant contributors).
How teams allocate this will be the key to success in this day and age. There currently is no formula for this, but the ones who figure it out are the ones you will see come playoff time. In the next few years you will see teams who win are going to be the teams that have both a good coach and a good GM.
Kids going to make more money than position coaches and even head coaches. Gone are the days of the student athlete. Thoughts?
