Stealing a page from Newt Gingrich's incredibly successful Contract with America, Kevin McCarthy & friends introduced the 21st Century version, Commitment to America.
In 1994, Newt rode the wave of his vision to the 1st GOP controlled House in 42 years, i didn't realize it had been that long. Many of the key tenants are the same and it is an interesting move to offer voters a clear plan, contrasting against an administration that appears rudderless with no answers. Some of this new plan based on solid economic principals, some of it political fluff but let's examine.
Fix the Economy
step 1 is to curb inflation. Part of this plan is in returning America's energy production, my hope is with a STRONG focus on natural gas. Getting America back to energy independence. Begin curbing excess spending by Washington and reducing expensive regulations (you do realize each one costs real $$$). Moving to reduce China's economic influence in teh US and strengthening the supply chain.
A Strong economy raises the tax base, creates real opportunities, will help reduce interest rates and will help reverse the impending (or we're already there) recession.
McCarthy specifically mentioned balancing the budget and given all the fiscal hawks that came out of the closet to bitch about Trump's spending, this should be music to their ears
Protect Americans rights/Make America safer
Moves to reduce the surging crime wave in the US. One sad fact which was brought up, 300 people a day are now dying due to Fentynal overdoses, about as many people as would die in a major airline crash which we haven't seen in years. Yet 300 a day is an afterthought for most. Where's this coming from? Made in China (China is ass) and imported across the open border so one step is to secure the border. Another is to add 200,000 more police officers as well as passing laws against the easy/no bail/no conviction policies of liberal DAs.
They want to create a Parents Bill of Rights to push back against teachers unions pushing a woke agenda at the expense of actual education.
Defund the 87,000 IRS agents
I kinda merged 2 of the 4 key planks above
Holding the Govt accountable
Often promised seldom delivered. Going after excess spending and most importantly waste. C2A announced the day after $45 Billion in fraudulent COVID spending exposed. Everyone should support this. Cutting spending would also help ease. I suspect we will see a few Dems reaping what they have sowed with investigation.
Of course Nancy is babbling that the Party of the Jackass will hold the House but even the most Dem friendly polls say that ship has sailed. Senate will be a coin toss at the election but the House is lost to the left while the WH will be lost in 2024.
Will this be a Contract with America style difference maker? Doubt it but do think it is a wise strategy showing the GOP has a plan and leaving the Dems to try to sell their failures of the past 2 years.
