Ok bro so not trying to be a douche or anything with speculation so I broke down the rosters of starters/co-starters from this year and the other greatest defense I recall seeing (2005). I think it is close with so many hosses on each side. Anywho this is probably better convo in 5 or 10 years butt some of you olds will be dead by then.

DL:
2005–Crowder, B-Rob, B-Rak, R Wright, Okam, R Miller
2024–Sorrell, Simmons, Moore, Burke, Collins, Broughton
Analysis—Push for now. The Brians were great in college and NFL. The rest from ‘05 were good to great in college but just aight in NFL for most part. Our current DL is extremely productive and still improving. Simmons could end up the best of them all, which could carry the position group by itself.
LB:
2005–Killebrew, Harris, Kelson
2024–Hill, Lefeau, Gbenda
Analysis—2024 all the way. LB was the weakest position group in ‘05 and one of strongest in ‘24. I will forever love those Killebrew personal fouls and the nasty he brought to the D, butt that was his biggest contribution. Harris was a “short Steve Edmond/slow Reed Boyd” to me dawg.
DB:
2005–C Griffin, Brown, Ross, M Griffin, Huff
2024–Barron, Muhammad, Guilbeau, Taffe, Mukuba
Analysis—‘05 until proven otherwise. It’s possible that ‘24 can catch them years from now when story over, but the legends of ‘05 will never be exceeded. Not that DB is a weakness this year given that it is the best secondary in SEC and entire country. All 10 of these dudes are GOATed IMO.
