it is a shame those 2 Norman mouth breathers got a Heisman nod and not Foreman....

Its called a winning record, rarely would a Heisman come from a team with a losing record,
And everybody knows OU can't beat anybody out of the big 12 ;) Heisman wasted money and tickets on those 2.

No he shouldn't have. Team record DOES matter especially in a league that is porous defensively vs the run.

B12 run D was SOOOOOO bad we had how many RB's in the Top 10 of all D1? 1

Also if the Heisman was truly given to the best individual athlete in college football he would be there based off of their own mission statement. No where in the mission statement does it say TEAM or this individual must be on a team with a winning record. That's just what the voters end up doing.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. The winners of the trophy epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work. The Heisman Trophy Trust's mission is to ensure the continuation and integrity of this award.

This won't go over well here, but considering they played the same crap defenses, Mayfield's and Westbrook's #s are just as impressive as Foreman's but they managed to win games, so they rightfully get the nod. Both shouldn't be there, and 3 big 12 offensive players would have no business being there.

If your logic leads you to believe Foreman should be there, then it would leave you to believe Mahomes should be there even more.

I am fine with that reasoning for the award, but why does that mean Foreman should be the there and not any of the other offensive statistical beasts in the big 12. How is Foreman more worthy?

In my opinion I think he should've at least been invited due to him being the Top RB in D1 period. That's that he missed 1 game.

What makes him the top RB that doesn't make Mahomes the top QB, or Westbrook the top WR? With your criteria for what the Heisman should be, who are your finalists?

In the past all Top 5 RB's have been a finalist if I'm not mistaken. Just so happens they picked more QB's and WR's this time but I feel D'Onta made enough push to be there. It's a opinion man I have no vote in this well with the exception of the fan voting.

Also maybe they feel Mahomes is the product of his system.

Everyone is a product of their system. A traditional pro style offense is a system. Every QB invited runs a variation of a spread offense so there shouldn't be system bias.

Foreman's got the stats no doubt, so does Mahomes, Westbrook, Jackson, Browning, Mayfield, and Watson. Not to mention the numerous other statistical beasts this year. Which ones are worthy and which ones aren't if you only look at individual success and not include team success?

Not gonna disagree but I still think Foreman should be in there. LOL!

Quarterbacks get passing yards for yards after the catch. Running backs don't get any such statistical help. You are the run with the ball and get yardage or you don't. You don't get extra yards because of someone else doing the work for you. That's one major difference. Yes you need to have a good offensive line but Donta earned all of those yards himself.

Not sure what that means other than you think RBs should get more love over QBs. That's fine if you think the Heisman finalist should be the top rushers that season. Although QB is the most important position in most offenses so they do have that burden to carry over RBs. If a QB were to be a finalist this year, who should it be, and why him over all other QBs? If team success shouldn't be part of the equation, is it based purely on stats?

Im pointing out a fact. Running backs yardage stats aren't inflated by short passes and long runs after the catch. And Heisman winners have won purely because of stats. See Andre Ware for example.

Lamar Jackson didn't play in the SEC West so it can be argued that his stats are inflated because of a weaker schedule. My point, along with many others, is you can't just throw out Mahomes name or Kingsbury or Sonny Cumby and say they should have been finalists if Donta were to be one. That is false logic simply because you can't accurately compare QB and RB stats to eachother. They are different.

Donta was arguably the top RB in college football this year even on a bad team. That says something. He wouldnt win just like Westbrook and Mayfield aren't going to win, but what he accomplished is every bit as impressive and worthy as what they did.

If fact, both of those players helped inflate eachothers stats in a pass happy league where huge passing stats have become normal. If Mahomes had a defense and Tech won 10 games and the conference and he had the exact same stats, by your logic he should be a finalist.

So its not really about the player for you it seems, but how good their team is, which is not what the Heisman is suppose to be about.

Dude, you may be in the SEC, but I saw your d against TN, and LSU, and you have a Big XII caliber defense, in other words terrible. Takes one to know one.
