Talked to a couple people in the college coaching world ...
Most of this stuff is just opinion, but thought I'd put it out to give you all something to talk about.
Apparently Brick Haley and A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis are very close. I mean super close, as in Brick looks up to Chavis as much as a sort of father-figure.
One person I spoke with said if the money is the same, he thinks Brick is going to have a very tough decision in front of him. There's a sense of loyalty to Charlie Strong, but Haley's longstanding relationship with Chavis will be a big factor in this one.
I don't believe Haley has been offered the job, but the word going around the coaching circles is that Chavis basically told him the job will be offered, he just needs to meet with Sumlin first.
Lastly, another coach who is dialed in on these things brought up a good point ... now that the meeting is out there and everyone knows about it, if A&M does offer the job, he expects it will be an attractive offer. Basically, A&M can't afford to have it look like they low-balled Haley or lost out to Texas, so he expects the Aggies to offer a nice salary and maybe even some sort of title.
Lots of speculation and nothing really concrete, just passing along a couple things I heard in talking to some people in the college coaching world.
