Largely pre-season is meaningless but it is a great chance to sort out the bottom of the 53 man roster. It seems several key backup roles are now locked in for Da Boys.

Let's start with the worst news of the night, DeMo out with a knee injury. He'd been having an awesome pre-season. Sadly, the mood is mostly negative coming out of Cowboy World. Season injury ACL though until the MRI, we won't know for sure.

And DeMo was not the only injury key to the depth chart. John Stephens (UDFA out of TCU) was pushing hard for the TE4 spot and he sustained a knee injury as well. Key OL back up Matt Walezko went out with a injured shoulder.

So what did we learn last night? Not a great deal, the starting lineups are pretty much set even though we saw exactly zero starters in the game. This is actually good news for the team.

There are some interesting battles coming and it's going to be tough for JJ/Stephen/McClay to cut down to their final 53, some talented players going to be exposed to the waiver wire.

WR4 is over. Last year's 2nd round pick Jalean Tolbert has secured that spot. Now WR5 and WR6 (if they keep 6) is a dog fight but JT had a really nice back shoulder catch against Seattle's starting CB and has balled out all pre-season. Keep in mind that last year's Pro Bowl returner Turpin is back and likely the PR/KR/WR6 so you have several players competing for one WR spot.

QB2 will be Cooper Rush. Will Grier got a 2nd week of 3 quarters of work and looked better at times but still undecicieve in his play including a bad read leading to an INT in the end zone.

Rico Dowdle appears to be RB2 behind Pollard with The Duece is Loose Vaugn in the RB3 spot. He had a good night running and recieving including a nice swing pass TD. Do they keep a RB4/FB? Not sure.

One guy who has really not lived up to hype so far in his career is CB Kelvin Joseph but he has made plays the past 2 pre-season games and is making his case to hang around in the CB 4-6 space. Keep in mind Dan Quinn frequently likes to play 3 Safties. Eric Scott, the player Dallas traded back into the 6th round to pick up, also bounced back from a weak performance vs Jax.

1st look at 2nd round draftee Luke Schoonmaker. Couple of catches, think this offense will fit well his skills. He's clearly part of the TE1-3 rotation with Ferguson TE1 at this point. As mentioned above, the fight is about a TE4 spot.

In the "mixed bag" catagory

Sam Williams had a good night on the edge but a dumb penalty kept a SeaBags drive aline. Seatlle had their 1s in the game and Williams recorded a sack on QB1 Geno Smith Dude needs to get the penalties out of his game though he's a lock to make the roster.

Will Grier with another up and down night. End of the day, too many mistakes, bad reads. Dallas needs to find a QB3, perferably a developmental guy. After his INT, Grier blew off his QB coach who was trying to coach him up. It was a groan TV moment. Dallas needs to upgrade.

With Zack Martin back, the starting OL is solid. . . barring injuries. The back up OL? We have to rely on these guys, Dallas is likely in trouble. Late flashing news, Jason Peters wants to come out of retirement. Jerry, make the call, he played solidly last year and represents a clear upgrade over any backup on the roster.

Ready for the season to get here.

@Alex Dunlap when is your Fantasy column coming???
