Texas safeties coach Craig Naivar will not be retained for the 2020 season, according to my sources.
Austin American Statesman's Brian Davis was the first to report the news.
According to my sources, Naivar spoke with defensive coordinator Chris Ash on the phone and stated he would not interview unless there was a real chance of him staying. Ash coached defensive backs as a defensive coordinator, and Naivar wanted assurances prior to interview.
As a result of that bad start, Naivar chose not to interview, and he parted ways with the Longhorns.
