It's Friday and it's Friday the 13th, so what better day to write a new edition of "Around the Board," where I take a few original posts in threads found on the first few pages of the Inside the 40 Acres board and give my own thoughts. I figured that on such a spooky day, we may find ourselves discussing some hair-raising topics. Thanks to all the original posters of these topics for helping round out this week of the Short.

Before you know it, we're going to have actual practices and a critical 2018 fall camp to cover ...

Briles to Waco High? by @No Avatar

I first started hearing about this yesterday when Matt Stepp of DCTF dropped a few nebulous hints about the Waco High opening that seemed to point to Briles. Since, he's been the only true "reporter" I've heard of who is espousing the insanely idiotic idea that Briles, a vile criminal and well-known sack of human excrement, should have influence once again over developing young (much less high school) minds. The person breaking the news in the tweet linked above is a Baylor minion and a moron who does not work in the media and is simply a fan of puny, dirty Baylor University. The same can be said for the miscreant dolt who was tagged in the tweet, who the user cited as the first to report this scoop. Let's just say I'll believe this when I see it from a news outlet that actually exists. With this said, I find it unbelievable that there are people in the thread saying that this is all on the up-and-up and that eventually Briles will need a second chance. I say people deserve second chances, but only once contrition is achieved and responsibility for your actions taken. Second chances come once debts to society are paid. Briles is 62 years old and is an unrepentant, hell-bound curmudgeon. As I said in the thread, if my child was a student at that school and the idea of Briles coming in as HC was even ever broached by school leadership, we'd file transfer papers that day, whether I had a son or a daughter. They are all potential victims of his.

Pride is a Biotch by @DallasKid
Hall of Fame won't mention Terrell Owens at induction but will mail him his gold jacket...

TO let PRIDE get in the way of a great weekend and a chance to bond with the big boys. He'll regret this privately for a very long time.

I've been telling my wife this ever since I heard the news that T.O. was going to skip his HOF induction because he is being a petulant child about not getting in at the exact moment he and many others expect he should/deserved to. The fact is that I understand the frustration and understand that Owens might not like the way the voters spoke about him behind closed doors or there reasoning for not voting him in earlier when precedent indicated he should basically be a first-ballot lock. This is the epitome of cutting off your nose to spite your face. The fraternity Owens is joining is one of the most special in the world and none of those players he'll be associated with through those halls for eternity had anything to do with his cockamamie balloting process among the media voters. That induction ceremony is potentially a Top 5 moment in life that Owens is, in effect, robbing himself of. The title of the thread is absolutely right. Pride can be a mean, mean bitch and it might take T.O. years to realize it, but he will.

According to Jordan Whittington ... by @Texas.CWS
was asked per his instagram this question

“Does Texas have any silent commits or commits on the way?”

Jordan’s answer

“Many man many”

He's not lying, you know.

Text Messages by @dianaprince
Would you rather receive one text that's lengthy like a novel or 20 multiple texts with short sentences regarding the same subject matter?

Give me the novel any day. I understand that people have differing views about this, though. Whenever I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket letting me know I have a text, I always wait another 4-5 seconds or so to see if a flurry is coming my way or whether it is a single. If I get another, I know many more are coming and it is my radio co-host Byron texting me with 100% certainty. I don't have anything against reading the multiple responses together and making them into one on my own, I just don't like my phone to keep buzzing (or worse, beeping) over and over and over.

OT: Unpopular Movies that you really liked by @bigeye6912
In OB tradition, another piggyback thread:

Movies that most people thought sucked, but I love.

Dune--hated it when i saw it in the theater, but find myself wanting to watch every so often.

Enemy Mine--Dennis Quaid and Zamis---I know this movie is stupid, but I just like it for some reason.

Is there any real answer besides Little Nicky?

Sucky movies that continue to suck despite acclaim by @SnakeEarl

Along the same lines, is there any answer other than the travesty that was Manchester by the Sea?

Sick WSOP Main Event Hand ... by @McLovin327
AA vs KK vs KK all-in pre-flop. What a sick hand. In all my years of poker I've never seen that setup.

If I'm Labat and last to call I'd fold my Kings...haven't done it often but I've folded Kings pre-flop a few times. I think he could've gotten away from it.

1) Kings are nearly impossible to get away from unless you have a raise in early position then another big re-raise in front of you. I think it's awfully hard to get off that hand.

2) What would have made it all the sicker is if homeboy would have back-doored a flush somehow to crack the aces (in a way that didn't pair the board to cause the boat of course).

Have a great weekend, Orangebloods.
