What is going on with the OLine and DLine? Should we be concerned or was he not going to help anyway?

Yeah I don't understand it either
He was fired up about losing 35 lbs early and how good he was going to do this season.....and now poof.....gone. Is it coaches? Or are the coaches getting rid of dead weight?

You are right he was happy about that. Was he not playing? I read he has left campus already.

Not that surprised when you take 5 DT's in one class you know some will transfer. Didn't think 3 would. That haul isn't looking too good now.

Looking pretty bad. And some are saying Christmas is leaving after the season.

He did not play at all the first 3 games. He has already left the team as well. Not even trying to get through the season.

For what its worth I had no idea who this was when I saw the thread title. Still dont honestly. Sounds like its for the best.

This happens with coaching changes. The kid probably feels like this is not what he signed on for. Differences in practice, culture, or whatever he doesn't like. Probably feels he should be playing more. Who knows, but I really hope Herman can get things turned around so he sticks around for a while and we can get some stabilization.

It's pretty common with coaching changes. It's not surprising that there is a lot of fat on a team that goes 6-7, 5-7, and 5-7. It sucks that it's been happening along the OL/DL which are the most difficult to get immediate help via new recruits, and are this state's Achilles heel in talent production.

He thinks he deserves to be on the field and not relegated to the scout team. Foolish behavior from a RSF. Nothing you can do about it but move on.

Christmas-Giles will be gone as well

If you didn't see any transfers, then you are blind lol. Our D is set with 3 DL, 3 LB and 5 DB. MB Era was a 4 DL, 3 LB and 4DB.
We only need 3 DL and in some cases we bring a hybrid LB up to take one of those spots. Kids want to play

Regardless of what our base D is our OL/DL are depleted, and our state doesn't produce deep talent at those positions. We aren't losing guys because the coach said we only need 3 DL so the rest of you guys can get out. Herman would love to have more players that can play effectively on the DL.

True but most top guys are not willing to ride the bench more than a year. I could be selfish and say, I wouldn't allow no one to leave but that wouldn't be fair to the student/athletes.
The coaches has to do a good job of identifying top talent across the country and work them kids. OL is the most important part of the offense. You are going to need 5 guys no matter what. There is no way to only recruit 3 guys on the OL. It has to be 5 or more. DL needs to be 3 or more.

I agree you should carry more OL than DL. You are ignoring the fact that DL rotate so while there may be 3 spots on the field you are going to have significant snaps from your entire 2 deep if not more, so we would be in a world of hurt if we only inked 3 DL each year. I think 5 OL / 4 DL would be ideal imo. 3 DL is going to be pretty thin once you factor in injuries or guys not panning out.

Since he already used his redshirt season, this season has started, and he has to sit out next year as a transfer year if he goes DI, does that mean he only has 2 years of eligibility left? If so - he must be really unhappy.

I am guessing he goes to FCS or FBS whichever is the lower level

The attrition is far from over and so far, very few that have left are making an impact regardless of where they ended up.
