Show out for their best performance versus a legit team this season? Howard can be rattled and turn the ball over. UT just played a one dimensional team, this gives the defense a real shot to show what they have become as a complete run/pass stopping unit under Strong's direct guidance OR NOT. I am not impressed with the Tech performance, when WVU and TCU held them to 17 points. Don't tell us, show us!!!

I would be confident in saying that Texas' defense actually held Texas Tech to 23 points. Now granted, after sudden change of the Porter fumble (which was arguably a failed call by the official) the defense needed to step up on a short field, but at that point the defense had been on the field for 42 plays in the 2nd half alone.

I'm not an apologist, but I thought the defense held up really well on Senior day, in Lubbock with a mind numbing ignorant offense at times. West Virginia had the ball for 16 minutes in the 2nd half vs. the 10 that Texas had it vs. Tech. WVU saw 40 total snaps in the 2nd half.

TCU gave up 27 points and 345 yards at home.

Texas gave up 30 points and 428 yards on the road.

Penalties, In ability to get lined up, missed tackles, No DB run support, DTs can't eat up blockers. What makes you think our D is going to get any better? Against Tech we went to a 3 man rush with a spy so we could drop 7 into coverage and still managed to give up 370 yards. If they have any kind of run game we are going to have to drop 7 into the box and we will still give up 4-5 yards per carry.

Both TCU and WVU gave up 17 points to Tech in regulation 60 minutes. Tech is one dimensional. Just wish the defense were stalwarts against the run.

I have very few complaints about the defense's performance against Tech. Part of that has to do with my low expectations going in, but they turned in a legitimately good performance overall, basically in line with what I was expecting before the beginning of the season from a young but talented group. Call Tech one-dimensional all you want -- they've been both one-dimensional and high-scoring for a long time.

On the other hand, I am not at all optimistic that the D can play the sound assignment football they will have to in order to stymie WVU's offense. Nothing they've done so far this year gives any reason for confidence in that regard.

This was a one dimensional team we just played? Oh really? Just two weeks ago that one dimensional offense put 59 points and 844 yards on Oklahoma. That's right the mighty sooners. They only got half as many yards against us. And one more time. They scored 37 points which was two thirds of what they got against OK. 7 of them came on a fluke and another 7 came on a fumble that was returned to our 30. I don't have my head in the clouds but this is an improvement.

TT may be one dimensional and they may only be able to do one thing but they do that very well. Weren't they the nations number one ranked offense?

Look my friend in Cali your defense played well enough to win but it will not be labeled as good by any stretch of the imagination. A defense starts with a solid foundation, like the illustration below. UT needs to bring in someone who understands that and someone who wants to "Make UT's Defense Great Again" Does that make sense?
