1st we open giving DeMarvian Overshown some well earned respect in his 1st NFL start. Dallas did good picking him.

DeMarvion Overshown in his NFL regular season debut.

  • 11 total tackles
  • 5 solo tackles
  • 1 sack

In our long exhibition season (16 more games over 18 more weeks), Dak played light years better in the grossly overpaid matchup of the weekend. Dak doubles down by being a really good person while his opponent faces even more serious charges for his disgusting behavior.

Dallas started 3 rookies, technically 4 as DeMo had never taken a snap and all of them played well. Including their 5th round pick, CB Caelen Carson who went head up with Amari Cooper and more than held his own. Now it helped that Watson largely sucked. 2 rookies started on the Oline with Cooper Beebe playing his 1st game ever at center. Both these guys were "old friends" from the BigXII days. Dirt Burgler Tyler Guyten got to face 2023's NFL Defensive player of the year and held up fairly well. Big man can move.

Dallas faced the #1 D from last year and frankly did well but the real stars were on D as Mike Zimmer made his 1st appearance as Dallas' new DC. In fairness, Browns were missing both tackles and Chubb, their star RB, on offense and saddled with Watson, it wasn't a fair fight.

The sad realization set in during the 4th quarter, odds are Dallas wins the division but is a near lock for the playoffs. Which means this is one massive exhibition season. None of it matters unless Dallas can advance in the playoffs. Super bowl window is closing. Dallas might have fixed it's D, it still lacks an RB1 so we wait until January to really care. But we'll always celebrate our Horns success on the field.
