In their feeding frenzy with Trump's blood in the water they are making a colossal political mistake here. They desperately want an impeachment conviction to prevent Trump from ever running for President again. WTF? Are they actually afraid he might win?
Trump's running for President in 2024 would further fracture a Republican party that will be trying desperately to purge and reinvigorate itself. With Trump in the mix there would be disruption and confusion and an ongoing political split within the party. With Trump out of the way they will have four years to right the ship and possibly find a viable candidate who, after 4 years of Biden/Harris, might really be in a strong position to reclaim the White House. Seems like a pretty stupid move to me. This could indeed prove to be a pyrrhic victory for them.
