During a conversation about whether or not removing certain statues (they were discussing a statue of Robert E. Lee) was appropriate, Trump made the comment that it was difficult because there were "very fine people on both sides of the issue." That is totally true. He was referring to people who saw the statue as symbolic of hate vs people who saw the statue as a piece of history that should be preserved.
Almost immediately, and increasingly since, the left has morphed that simple and very true comment into a rhetoric that had Trump saying that "white nationalists" and now even "white nationalist terrorists" are very fine people. That disingenuous rhetoric continues till today and I've heard no less than 4 of the leading Democratic presidential contenders quote that totally misconstrued comment. The bad thing is they know it. They all have access to tapes of the actual statement, in context, yet they will not relinquish what they believe to be a strong anti-Trump "message" to the American public.
Have doubts? Its out there. Go look it up for yourself.
