Was going through my notes from last week and remembered I had mentioned DeSoto corner Lathan Adams as a guy to file away after DT Byron Murphy committed to Texas.
My guess is that Texas will probably hold firm on its corner numbers, but I’m told that the Longhorns have kicked the tires a bit on Adams, inquiring about his grades, his character, etc.
Adams is committed to Colorado State but other schools have started taking notice with a strong senior season. He has an SMU offer and schools like Virginia Tech and Texas Tech are in contact. He has a slight frame that will need to fill out some but has speed that you can’t coach.
“Really, it’s his one-on-one, man (coverage). You can put him on an island,” one source told me about Adams’ strength. “It’s 6A football, he takes the best receiver and shuts them down.”
Adams gets good work in practice going against Ark commit Jaedon Wilson and TT commit Jerand Bradley (not to mention 2023 stud Johntay Cook), which has helped him develop.
“He goes up against those guys. He’s really good, with his press, those guys struggle with him. And when they do beat him, he has recovery speed.”
Legit speed guy on the outside who is starting to get some Power 5 looks.
