by making offers to their key commitments on offense?
And the rumors about a Kyle Allen transfer...

This was a win-win situation for Major.

I don't think so. Major kills it on the recruiting trail and the players love him. He has demonstrated a track record of improving programs at every stop. Additionally, he has deep ties to the state of Texas.

New University of Houston head football coach Major Applewhite will receive a five-year deal worth $1.5 million annual base salary that includes six-figure bonuses for wins, athletic director Hunter Yurachek said Monday.

The contract includes certain performance and bonus incentives, including $100,000 for each win beyond nine wins up to 12.

Applewhite's contract also includes a buyout that will be the full remaining value of the contract. It includes a 50 percent increase if he leaves for any school in state of Texas.

Only job in Texas major would leave for is Texas you would think and that's filled for a while. 100,000 for each win beyond 9? Damn

I have my doubts about Major. There were so many questions while he was there under Mack Brown. It appeared he had become arrogant under Mack Brown. But now there are stories it was more MB than it was him. I mean he supposedly ignored Darrell Wyatt and Bryan Harsin when they were at Texas but at Houston he and Darrell Wyatt appear to work very well together. Then I hear its Tom Herman's offense. Who knows?
