We haven't really had a decent team since Colt and the Ship left, the Bama game was it, which I am convinced that we woulda won if Colt hadn't went down, the same yr MB let us down, I think he lost it cause he didn't get that game and went into a I don't give a shit mode, you look how many yrs that's been and nothing close unless ya count the Sugar Bowl and the " Were Back Gang", now here we are with only 1 player playing for the whole team seems like, Changes have got to come or you will be sitting here at 70 something praying for just 1 more before your expiration date..I think the really last exciting game was the Texas Neb game in the playoffs, I maybe wrong, that being without counting the Rose Bowl with VY...History ain't been that good repeating itself with Texas has it?

mixed emotions on Mack....did some great things here (thanks Mack for the MNC) but really crapped on the program after 2009. I'm realizing that I may never see Texas great again in my lifetime. wait till next year is my standard Longhorn motto going forward.

One of 2 things is about to happen quickly.

1. We hire Urban Meyer and take an upward trajectory.

2. We go full Shaka Smart and suck badly for years.

There won't be an in-between. The time to bail will be very clear. Rumors of Ewers's father following the tOSU coaches on Twitter is bad. Herman is falling fast in recruiting. Will CDC allow the football program to collapse like he allowed the basketball program to collapse? We are about to know. I will bail quickly. CDC has proven to be a failure.

Sadly, we are about to witness an epic collapse of the Texas football program. I don't think the administration wants Meyer. I don't think the BMD's will pony up for anyone but Meyer. The money is about to walk away (BMD's and Alumni) and the academics are going to be running the show. If anyone would like an example of what this looks like, re-visit Texas Basketball over the last 5-6 years and multiply by a factor of 10.

I won't waste my time with it. It's not worth it.

Why is CDC a failure? Just because Herman hasn't been fired yet doesn't mean it won't happen and if CDC's boss doesn't want Meyer then I'm not sure what he can do about it anyway.

I'm not sure I'm in the CDC is a failure camp. I don't think many would write the checks for Smart's firing. Basketball won't get the same buyout money donated that football will. I think after this year (if its bad) you could see Smart get the door, but the money is low right now.
I think CDC pulls the trigger if he can and has the money given for it. If Urban is ready and willing I think we get him. No buyout and just Hermy's $15.4 mil, not a bad situation. If Urban isn't willing, then its about who is available and what their buyout is on top of Hermpes buyout.
I think CDC has made some solid hires in his other hires. Remember he has a lot of people to pacify and has to have everything together before making a move.

The 2021 and 2022 classes are looking dismal. That adds at least another 2 years of wandering in the desert. I'm with Dan. I don't have the patience for it.

7-3 while third or fourth in the b12 is not the standard. It's a failure. CDC seems to be content with it. Look at Basketball.

good thoughts.....I've just lost confidence in Texas football, from the top down. maybe CDC can right the ship but I think my perspective has changed as I've aged. I don't have 20 more years to wait for Texas to 'turn it around'.

I agree that it’s all or nothing ... no in between. No risk / reward coaching decision. No more decisions based on: this is the hot coach this year; up and coming HCs or coordinators; let’s give a guy 3 years to get his personnel in the program; or heaven-forbid G5 coaches.
In the golf round of life, I’m on the back nine. I’m even par right now. Now is not the time for a double or triple bogey.
Bring someone in to contend immediately. I’m also ready to pull my $ if we screw this up.

CDC can't throw an acting coach under the bus in the middle of the season. the softball and womens basketball hires are home runs. the money isn't there to buy out tommy and shaka. i know, it probably is, but it's about priorities. shaka was likely saved by covid. and now he will likely be saved by tommy's ineptitude. first things first, deal with tommy and get urban here-- the athletic dept is self-sustaining; screw what the academics think. me and 13 other people will suffer through shaka for a couple more years until that situation can be corrected. but first things first-- get urban here.

The 2021 and 2022 classes are screaming fire him now. He won a sugar bowl in 2018 and it did nothing to help. We are down to offering vandy commits. Our OL is terminal.

What if the administration decides to not hire UM because of past issues? If Herman goes 7-3 and goes to the Liberty Bowl and is retained, what then?

Exactly.....crazy how bad our recruiting could become.

Liberty Bowl . . . we're shooting for the stars. The last 4 teams in the Liberty Bowl were K State, Navy, Okie State, and Missouri. Blue bloods for sure.
We're a blue blood? That's the biggest scam on the American public since bottled water and the Rona.
