Does NIT success save Shaka?

We all know the 13 million reasons to keep Shaka regardless of the outcome, but does the NIT success and a possible championship take the heat off of Shaka?

3 straight wins is probably the best stretch we have had all season. Despite that, we blew a big lead against South Dakota State, needed OT against Xavier and after an incredible 1st half, went minus 13 against Colorado in the 2nd half. Wins are wins but these were still rife with problems.

A championship would mean adding wins against TCU and then either Wichita St. or Lipscomb. 5 straight wins would be nice but not against any great teams.

It really should not have any effect, in my opinion. Nothing that happens in this piece-of-sh*t tournament diminishes the fact that Shaka’s fourth team wasn’t good enough to make the 68-team field of the only tournament that matters. If one-and-done in the real tournament wouldn’t fortify his standing, why should any result in the kids’ table tournament?

CDC is a bright guy. I don’t think he will give NIT outcomes any weight in a future decision. A season that ends in the NIT is by definition a failure. He knows this.

How can the NIT save anything? We are not measured by such a low bar.

We beat two sweet 16 teams this year and managed to slide into the NIT. Shaka should be judged on the fact that he beat 12.5% of the teams in the sweet 16 yet managed to not even make the dance.

Shaka has tremendous athletes with overall poor performance. How would he do with poor athletes? His teams at Texas are spectacular underacheivers.

NIT doesn't matter. the buyout is what matters. he was coming back the whole time or we'd have an interim in charge. we have to deal with it, at least for another year.

Chris Beard is going to be a hot item, especially if the Red Raiders keep winning. There's a very strong chance he will cash in for a better job after this year. Considering he is a UT alum - this may be the only chance to get him.

The NIT has always been depressing to me. Winning is great, but, at the end of the day, its just a national television reminder that you didn't make the NCAA Tournament.

Uh....TCU plays defense so our shooting percentage will be trash. Just don’t see us beating them.

Jamie Dixon owns Shaka.

Is TCU still down to seven healthy players, like they were when they beat the brakes off of us in Austin on Senior Day?

If so, have the intervening weeks been enough time for Shaka to understand the need to speed up the pace and pound the ball inside against a team in that condition instead of using entire shot clocks for crappy shooters to chuck up sh*tty threes?

Am I asking too much?

chris beard is being rumored for arkansas, but i think he would view that as a sideways move. i think they're thinking sampson anyway. if ucla is still looking, i could see that being a tough job to top. otherwise-- and hopefully-- somebody could get into his ear and tell him to just hold off for a year and he can get shaka's spot. i just think if we were going to fire shaka, he wouldn't be coaching us in the NIT

But they’re better than Radford Women’s College, Providence Nunnery, Athens Dog Grooming Institute, and the Stillwater Chucklef*cks.

Plus Shaka is Jamie Dixon’s b*tch.

But we’ll see.

Arky is not a sideways move in my opinion. They have basketball history with a championship, better facilities and closer to major recruiting. He would do well in arky. Man, I would love for Beard to be the next HC at Texas.

I have no inside knowledge, but I could see him staying at Texas Tech for a good while. He's got some serious family ties to that region.

Wtf is the NIT? They still play that raggly shit? I haven't seen an NIT game since I was a kid, when I was dumb and thought it was an NCAA game. It was about as exciting as clamball. Which is not at all.

Tech will give Beard whatever he wants and he's established pretty solid family ties to that region. I bet he stays where he is.
