Ed O and how LSU made the right call

Well lets see now. LSU had lost to AL 7 years in a row. Last year they were one of 4 SEC teams to get to a NY6 bowl game but they went 1/2 against those other NY6 teams. And while they went to the FB they got the luck of the draw because they drew an over matched UCF team.

Now we come to last year and like OK the previous 2 years they got a gift when a qb from tOSU xfrd into Baton Rouge. Because it was early in the season TX found out before anyone else that Joe Brady was on his way to the Heisman. Nobody I know of picked LSU to win the NC. And after LSU beat AL they destroyed everyone they played.

So is Ed Ogeron really the right hire? Their Heisman winner is off to the NFL. 7 players declared early for the draft and along with the seniors that will be drafted that's a lot of players to replace. And they also lost both of their coordinators. I'm going to wait and see about this coach, who has been fired not once but twice remember SC? Is this coach capable of making LSU into a blue blood? Or is he another Gene Chizik who also lucked into a 1 year qb transfer and went on to win a NC. This LSU season is very similar to the Auburn nc team I'm sure other people remember this it was only 10 years ago.

I refuse to give a coach who's been fired twice credit for being an elite coach. Time will tell.
I agree cali, however if memory serves me correct, Orgeron wasn't fired. He quit USC. He wasn't given the HC job after believing he had earned it and was not interested in the position coaching slot he was occupying pre-tarmac.

I agree and I get all of that, but I think that Coach O caught lighting in a bottle last season. I just think that he'll be hard pressed to keep LSU in contention for national championships consistently.
I agree with both of you. After Texas stole Herman from LSU they had little choice but to offer Ogeron a dirt cheap contract knowing he would take anything and go all in on hiring the best coordinators money could buy. And they did in record setting fashion, but like we see the turnover/replacement of the elite/pricey coordinators is the rate limiting enzyme with this philosophy and we will find out if it is sustainable.

What LSU and Ogeron do have going is he can recruit like a mofo.
