Following a national search to replace the fired Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M is turning to Fisher's former defensive coordinator to try and steer the Aggies in the right direction, according to multiple insiders.

A&M intends to hire Mike Elko from Duke, where he's spent the past two seasons, after he was Fisher's defensive boss from 2018-2021. The announcement from A&M athletic director Ross Bjork could come as soon as Sunday night or perhaps Monday.

Robinson, an ace recruiter, is expected to stay on with Elko on the defensive staff, perhaps as defensive coordinator. Elko is 16-9 over two seasons as Duke's head coach.
