Charlie is the single most horrible coaching hire in college football history. He is a good man but he can't do the job to save his life. I hope Oklahoma does the right thing and beats the shit out of us and ends the Charlie Strong Era.

No. Strong needs to be fired TODAY. He has had his chances to right the ship. He is not the coach to take Texas back to the top. Mack Brown was a better coach than Strong even with his idiocy in recruiting the last few years he was here.
I'm officially on board with fire Strong and fire Bedford.
If OU were to beat Texas then Stoops will somehow use it to show signs of progress and help extend his stay for a couple more years. We probably don't want that.
Bedford needs to go now. ND canned their DC with much less fanfare. Vance had two weeks and help (Charlie) to fix the D and nothing changed. I find it highly unlikely that Texas will even reach 6-6 this year.

I'm well known as believing in Strong and critical of how the powers that be handled the transition from Mack but having the secondary looking completely lost in year 3 after a bye week leaves nothing to defend.

Big picture. Burn it all down and get it right this time around. With Steve Patterson rotting in the grave it shouldn't be that hard.
Our administration desperately wants Charlie to be successful because he's our first black head football coach. They always seem to have a need to help him along. Case in point is his search for a new OC last season - Charlie needed to have our President travel to Tulsa just to close the deal. Charlie just doesn't have the influence and relationship-building skills needed to head a top 5 football program. Someone in our administration needs to step in and start holding him accountable. He is what he is - a really nice guy who's a decent college Coach. That's not good enough for Texas. If there's anyone who still thinks he's the best Coach for Texas then you must enjoy low standards and mediocrity. My fear is that our program has now been set back even more years. Our administration must understand that making the wrong choice really sets you back tremendously. My other fear is that our administration values "diversity " greater than winning and allows Charlie to stick around another year or two. Just disgusts me.
So much damage has already been done that I believe there's no other option but to fire Strong before the end of the year. If we don't there won't be any qualified coaches available. Herman won't be available, Peterson ain't coming here, Meyer ain't coming here, Saban ain't coming, Darrell Royal is dead, and Art Briles is a sleaze.

Correct, football is about results just like it should be anywhere else in any line of work. However, I don't trust our administration. I'm convinced they would prefer a black head coach that is okay instead of hiring a winner who will restore our program to national prominence.
Um..... what rock have you been living under? Race is the ONLY thing that matters right now to the social justice warriors and twitter deushe nozzles who tweet from the safety of anonymity. Texas will get blasted by every race baiting talking head, every African American social activist, every hack with a blog- and they know it. And who's to blame for all this? Not charlie. Well for starters its not hard to tell when a caller is Black, unless you've been living on Mars your whole life. But yeah, some of them actually talked about how race shouldnt matter. If you listened you'd know that.
You actually think anyone who matters is gonna say he was fired because hes Black? Im not talking about idiots. There will always be idiots no matter what happens. Anyone whose opinion matters won't be calling Texas out for race if Strong is fired.
We have diversity on our football team-but, they are there on merit, they earned it. Why can't coaching be the same? I doubt most people care about the race of our coach. We just want to win.
I think you'd agree that it's usually idiots that start the rumbling under current-- then when it sparks, the "placating" talking heads take up the cause to increase their exposure and get click bait. Trust me, there will be prominent members of the black community that raise a stink.
I don't believe race will be an issue if he is let go at the end of the year. USC will probably fire their coach after 1 year and hes white. 3 years is enough and we have shown zero improvement on D, and he's supposed to be a Densive guru. If Texas gets Herman, nobody will be bitching about firing Strong after 3 years. Anyone hiring Herman will have to wait until the end of the year and playoffs anyway so he will probably get 3 full years. We have all seen enough..
You guys are in a tough spot. You probably don't want to beat OU and get on any kind of run. Pulling against your team is tough but you know you can't get better until it gets worse. I said a long time ago when he was first hired he wasn't the guy. Man Herman isn't fixing to become the highest paid coach of all time. LSU are in a state of desperation..the bidding will be ridiculous. 5 mil isn't going to do it.
not so sure. They are more delusional than the UT BOR. However, Herman may want the UT JOB more than the LSU job. Who is the back up plan?
The play (1st quarter I believe) were Malik basically goes untouched thru the middle of the Oline and stops to look at the rb and then misses the tackle...that demonstrated all I need to know.
I blame coaches for not putting the X's & O's in the right spot and maybe for not getting the players excited to play, but....where is the intrinsic motivation to go out and compete, refuse to lose, to kick the opponents' a$$? Maybe I'm (we) are just the older guys who never would accept mediocrity. Maybe the competitiveness gene is gone...just sucks to know these kids are talented and don't play with "you will not beat me today" mentality.
This gene is not gone. We teach it to our kids. So do many other fathers.
