I wouldn't be shocked if $10mil/year is the number. Again, both Texas and LSU are in a little desperation mode. I know Texas believes that they can't make the wrong hire here and 10mil is a lot to TRY and see if Herman is the guy. If I was Texas I would go after a proven name in a power 5 conference and money whip him instead. Herman COULD be another Strong. Much of what they have done has been exactly the same. Herman could be the next Urban Meyer as well. Who is going to be the team to pay a fortune to find out. He does bring a great Houston recruiting base, but you never know what is going to happen because he hasn't had to manage getting your team up every week and not just 2-3 times per year. It will be interesting to see what will happen if Texas turns things around somewhat and finish strong this year. What will happen then?
That's the problem at the 40 acres. Yeah, I've given up on Charlie and Bedford, but I don't trust Perrin or the BOR to make the rights move. They're counting $$$, not wins. Perrin would probably just hire Greg Davis or Will Muschamp, or the next David McWilliams .. just a good golfing buddy. The BOR and AD lack fire themselves (due to $$), so either they won't hire someone with the fire, or whoever they hire would turn soft because of the culture here. In fact, soft culture permeates into the athletes themselves. So many guys come in 4/5 stars and leave 2 stars.
Compare us to say OhioSt. Had a damn good coach in Tressell for 10 years. Gave somebody an audition in 2011, went 6-6, and then upgraded to Meyer. Meanwhile, we're circling the wagons for 6 years on the field.
We should first get a real AD, someone who actually cares about winning. Who was the guy at UH who I assume hired Briles, Sumlin, and Hermann?
When Florida took Urban Meyer he had no more "skins" than Herman really. Some guys can just coach and it looks like Herman is one of those guys. I would take him in a heartbeat. Upside is WAAAAAYYYYYYY up and downside is pretty high.
Barring a miraculous 9/10 win finish, Charlie is done at the end of the year. But we should not be rebuilding again. The only positive I can say about Charlie is he will bequeath a better roster than he inherited. The right coach/staff hires should see immediate results in terms of wins. Think of Blake at OU, Zook at Fla, or Sherman at aTm.

Even Anwar Richardson on the afternoon show today was saying how all the Black fans he knows (hes Black) arent happy with Strongs performance and its not about race to them. At the end of the day its about results. I agree with Clob that tards and race baiters will try to make this about race, but anyone with a brain will know that if Strong is let go, it will be strictly about wins and losses, and nothing else.
