Unelected political appointees appointed for life. Can protect us from unconstitutional acts by our elected officials and can thwart totally constitutional acts by elected officials with whom they disagree politically.

A disgruntled party can always cherry pick a Federal venue sympathetic to their cause. While ultimately checked by the SCOTUS their rulings can play havoc with the effectiveness of a given Presidential platform.

Are our protectors of democracy also possibly democracy’s biggest threat? Or is it all working just as intended?
