Directly, a scoreboard doesn't help you win games and I think everyone knows that. This in no way is preventing the players and coaches from getting ready for the season.

Indirectly, scoreboards and locker rooms help with recruiting and that helps win games. Scoreboards also improve the fan experience which is of course good for fans and could help on the field by improving the home field advantage. Having the best facilities isn't a bad thing.

I like it. Texas should be the bar when it comes to amenities and facilities in college sports. Over the last several years, UT has slipped and no longer has the nicest facilities in the country. Keeping our athletic venues, locker rooms, player lounges, training facilities, athletic dorms, etc. top notch is very important and helps attract elite recruits to the 40.

so is winning! Kids go to colleges that are winning not losing, you could have golden lockers and if you are losing you won't get them to come, when they change the uni's I quit! Every yr they tear up history on Ut Campus just for football recruiting, the game left a long time ago...

FB, of course winning is the most important factor in recruiting. When Texas starts winning again, they will be able to pretty much sign who they want to sign. However, don't underestimate how important having top notch facilities is. Its all important.

Well as someone above pointed out scoreboards impress recruits.

But something else I need to tell you. We have fallen behind in facilities. Doesn't it bother you that Baylor has better facilities than we do? Believe that because it's true. The cow college in College Station is ahead of us as well wth?

Clemson as we all know won the nc last year. But they aren't even remotely close to blue blood status. But they've upgraded the facilities big time. A school like Clemson should not be ahead of the University of Texas but they are.

Personally I think we had a bunch of childish big money donors who won't contribute to the athletic fund because they weren't allowed to be in the hiring of Charlie Strong. They want to watch the practices, they want to know that they can call the coach once a week sometimes more.

But from what I've read Tom Herman is very good with the alumni, he was very popular with them, when he was at tOSU and Houston.

FB, the good days are not gone. Winning would change your mind in a hurry. Every blueblood program has their downturns. No one is exempt from it happening to them, including Alabama. Texas will win big again. Mark my words.

I totally agree with you here FBHorn. I think Texas should force the players to use porta potty's until they win more games and scorboards are overrated anyway. You knew I'd have your back FBHorn, didn't you?

I find it funny that most fans are on board with the fancy, electronic lockers and bigger & better scoreboards, but the Swagcopter got so many laughs. That was trying too hard.

There's no end to it. And ultimately it -- and rising coaches' salaries -- all leads to cheating a la Johnny Manziel, Big Red Sports and Dicker-James, since players are going to expect part of the cut.

I'm not arguing that it can't help recruiting, but it's a never-ending battle as long as fans keep buying tickets, shirts, etc. The money corrupts the sport.
