How is it you guys are ranked in the top 20, and yet are underdogs in your SEC opener to an unranked Auburn team? This actually isnt a dig at you guys either.. Im just not sure I follow this - well to soem degree I do.... but still what are your feelings on this?

Oh I has answers too... and it plays in to national perception of a program... there is a thread discussing it about Texas on here.... so I guess this can kind of be one for aggys.... but being a dog to an unranked team when you ar ranked top 20 speaks volumes about perception of your program.. I just wanna see how many aggys can actually accept and understand it.

UCLA was a ranked dog vs. A&M week 1. It happens. Not a big deal.

Pretty simple. First, polls mean Jack crap week 2 of the season. Second, Vegas thinks auburn and A&M are basically a wash, points for home field advantage. Seems about right to me. Auburn is pretty good. We are pretty good. Neither is proven.
Anyone crying about poll ratings this early is a freaking Nancy.

Wha.....wait.......what did you just say?

Let me re-read your last sentence because I'm pretty sure you just said that----- yep...yes you did--- you said that "anyone crying about poll ratings this early is a freaking Nancy".........

If I were a more tech savvy man, I'd post the link from my phone to texags from Tuesday last week and show you ------ literally------- the thousands of aggys that posted about how they could not believe that Texas had jumped them in the polls after they beat "a much more talented" ucla squad........ texags was losing its fvcking collective mind....... over a poll rating.......this early.........

Nancy by proxy?

Not me. Those guys are pathetic. UCLA might win 6 games, same for ND. It is early.

Honest... Real...... Respectful........ are you SURE you are an Ag? lol i kid. good insight though, was wanting to see what yall were thinking, but i didnt expect a rational and logical answer. I salute you sir. ;)

Na he edited his post and added the Nancy part at the end. Give him a rating of 1.2 out of a 10. On that post.
Pretty sure the edit was adding the part about UCLA being the ranked dog vs. A&M. Not that it matters.
A grown man who bitches and wines because his team is ranked 18th, but is being cheated for whatever lame reason is pathetic. Now if they are 5th the week after conference championship games, bitch away.

Menopause early?

Auburn lost to a great team, so they must go down in the rankings (or out of rankings), but can still be perceived as a good team. And also, Vegas is likely playing to the masses that may think Auburn is underrated or A&M is overrated. Remember, names carry meaning, and that's why Texas jumps to #11 after beating Notre Dame, whereas if Texas State stomped on them they'd move to #35.

I'll tell you why. Because Auburn beat A&M last year, now the game is @ Auburn, and what has changed? A&M added Trevor Knight. These are basically the same teams, and no one trusts Knight against a good defense. On paper it looks like a defensive battle, and the home team is getting the nod.

Now for the disclaimer. If I were a gambling man, (and I am), I'd bet my mortgage payment on A&M. Auburn's offense is hot garbage. If Knight can put up even a below average performance, he can sit back and watch his defense do the rest. The mismatch in this game is Auburn's pathetic QB faced with A&M's D line.

Hey look....another locked thread.

Regarding A&M's defense.....two games does not a season make. But the contributions made by folks other than Garrett, Hall, and Watts have been a very nice sign. Justin Evans has been all over the place and I'm not sure what happened to Shaan Washington, but apparently he decided to become a football player. Will be an interesting game for sure.

Could be similar logic to why #11 Texas is only an 8 point favorite to a TERRIBLE CAL team. Explain that logic. As for A&M I'm not shocked about it. I would have thought the line would have been MAYBE A&M by 1. Auburn lost by 6 to the number 2 team in the country. Auburn is playing at home. Auburn isn't a bad football team. I don't see this as a major deal.

Speaking of lines...

Florida St -2
Oklahoma St -6
Michigan St +8
Texas -8

Pondering LSU -13.5 and Houston -7

Who is LSU playing? If Houston's QB is playing, I would take both LSU and Houston giving the points.

Cal is the #2 team in the country in passing offense, #3 in total offense, #4 in the country in 1st downs and #21 in scoring offense. Just curious, are all the teams UT plays always terrible? Is that just a given to you? Because Cal has a very good offense.

Not saying their defense isn't porous but Tech (Sonny Dykes is Cal's coach and Davis Webb is an ex Tech QB btw) proved you could beat a lot of teams by outscoring them. An aggy should definitely know this better than anyone. Because Tech beat you girls all the time.

To call Call a TERRIBLE team is simply a lie.

Of course all teams aren't terrible. Notre Dame was a very good football team it seemed. BUT, Cal hasn't played anyone to put up those numbers either. I think Texas will limit them and if Texas has a great game plan and just plays smash mouth football they control the clock, keep Cal's offense off the field and will win the game easily. As good as you think Cal's offense is, there defense is just as bad. I don't think this game should be close if Texas plays it right.

Rankings aren't that simple as team #17 should always beat team #35.

Maybe Auburn happens to match up well vs. the Ags? Plus, the game's in Jordan-Hare, not Kyle.

Wow. That is painful, and true. Cal isn't terrible or good. They are meh. They are Texas Tech (hippie style).

Yea but the Aggies have padded stats because they play Priarie View. That's not even a FCS team right? I definitely know where and about PV but there's no reason for A&M to be playing them...ever.

I agree that we should never play them. It does no one any good. I don't care who's favored, I just want to play well on the road in a hostile environment.

Ball State and W.Carolina last year were real barn burners too. Shameful and cowardly OOC scheduling for the aggys.

AU is a decent team and they are playing at home. Their defense did impress against Clemson.
FWIW, I expect Ok. St. to be favored by a similar amount in a couple of weeks when the play Texas.

BS. Overall SOS is all that counts. A&M played an OOC against a top 15 team (at least in preseason rankings) and then played a formidable conference schedule.
