How did this turn into what A&M is doing? Do you think I want to play Prairie View? I know stats are padded for every team early in the year. The comment was made because someone is mentioning how great the Cal offense is when they have played extremely soft defenses. The point is that numbers don't matter right now and Cal is not a good team in any sense of the imagination. Texas should dominate them. To me it boils down to the game plan. Texas should be able to wear them down with the run and keep their offense off the field. Don't put too much pressure on Buechele in his first road game. I'm sure he would do fine chunking the ball around because he seems pretty poised and I've been impressed with his accuracy, BUT you don't want to put him in a situation where he could make mistakes on the road things get in his head. Don't make this about A&M. Read before you type.

Wrong, aggy. Playing 2 high school teams every year so you can have a winning record is shameful. And only a coward football program would do it. And only a desperate,losing fanbase would defend it.
I don't think anyone wants to play FCS schools. However, we are scheduling a good OOC opponent as well each year coming up. In the end the SOS that you are talking about will work out where ours will be higher than yours. In the end when our SOS is higher than yours, what are you guys complaining about?
I don't think any fan enjoys playing FCS schools. I flipped it off the game because it was getting so ugly. I guess it's nice to be able to play other guys to build your depth, but you only need one of those and not 2. We have a good schedule coming up in future years. In the end our SOS will be higher than Texas' SOS so I'm not so sure why it is getting this much attention. Personally I would like to see us schedule another Power 5 conference member middle tier program just to make it more enjoyable. We don't need 2 FCS schools.
SEC has always scheduled conference games early (many times week 1 or 2). They also play 4 OOC games. But I guess because everyone isn't scheduling the way Texas and Big 12 do it then its wrong.
BTW, during the greatest run of success you have had in the past 30 years I can really only think of a couple of ranked OOC opponents (UCLA and Ohio St.) in the Mack Brown era.

Maybe, but in the end when a committee looks things over, they are looking at strength of schedule overall. IF...no need to insert sarcasm..A&M was to beat Alabama, LSU, Auburn, UCLA, Ole Miss, and Tennessee, people would care that we played FCS schools. I still hate it, but a committee wouldn't.

You play in the current watered Big 12. Whether we are playing New Mexico St or Iowa St, they are both an easy win...Oh wait, maybe Iowa St isn't a good example. If we play UTSA or Kansas...does it matter? Prairie View or UTEP..both easy wins. You have just as many gimme wins as we do. Why are you getting so worked up?

Texas plays at USC, v Maryland and v UCF next year. At Maryland and v USC (18), LSU (19), at LSU and v USF (20), at Arky (21), at USF and v tOSU (22), at tOSHU (23), Michigan (24 & 27). Basically, Texas has created a system of playing a blue blood opponent and an additional Power 5 team in home and homes. With our third game being against a non-cupcake non-power 5 team (No FCS).
Texas of course plays in an easier conference but will still be playing against 3 or 4 top 25 teams during conference play. I don't blame TAMU for scheduling a lighter OOC schedule but I think overall the two differing approaches balance out SOS. Both teams have had respectable SOS recently (2015 7 vs 25, 2014 14 v 6, 2013 11 v 26, 2012 12 v 6).
