DMN editorial board discussing the insightful and topical words from this great contemporary of Lincoln. And they freely describe him as a “black” man. His father was white. At the time he lived, there was the racist “one drop rule” but should this continue today? Seems racist to call him black. Maybe we stop labeling people by color.

But for this exercise, why isn’t he called a great white abolitionist?
