After talking with a couple of sources that were able to provide notes from practice, here's a breakdown of Friday's practice:

a. Overall, the practice was described as very physical. It's the last practice of the week and the team won't hit the practice field again until Monday, so the energy was probably as good as any practice this week.

b. We were told that there was a lot of mixing and matching with personnel and that it didn't often looks like 1s and 2s really existed. There were times when one group of starters would be on one side of the field and others would be on the other side f the field.

c. Quinn Ewers received a lot of praise for his performance. He dropped a dime into Isaiah Bond that reminded one observer of the long ball that Ewers threw to Xavier Worthy in the Alabama game. "Quinn is so much more of a natural leader than he was last year or the year before," one source observed today. "He was very vocal and seemed to be having a lot of fun. Has the offense down backwards and forwards."

d. The offensive line that worked with Ewers today was a mixture of platers. Again, it doesn't appear to have been a day when the 1s just worked with the 1s and the 2s just worked with the 2s.

e. "Arch (Manning) is making better decisions, processing things much faster than a year ago. It's a night and day difference betwee this year and last. I'd have no problems if Arch had to play. There's going to be a very smooth transition when Ewers leaves and Arch becomes the starter," one source said.

f. Arch had a ball to Juan Davis that should have been a touchdown but ball wasn't caught.

g. Arch's only mistake on the day was a near-pick six from Warren Roberson, who would have had an 90+ yard return for a touchdown if he had held onto the ball.

h. Overall, the offense was described as the winner of the day.

i. Ryan Wingo had a big play on a reverse. He was described as "a grown-ass man" by one of our sources that took in practice.

j. Tre Wisner was mentioned as a standout today and he had Tashard Choice very excited by his play,

k. Both of the freshman running backs had good days, but Christian Clark was the one that stood out the most, as he had multipl runs where he was described as carrying people for yards down the field. The buzz around Clark just won't stop.

l. The defensive line was forced to stay back after practice to do 50 up-downs because of mistakes reportedly made by a single young player. We don't want to pass along the name of the player that reportedly was responsible for the line being punished, but it was a young player (not a true freshman).

m. Deandre Moore had a good day. Reminded one person of Jordan Whittington without the dreads.

n. There's a feeling like they are mixing the receivers around a lot and that there actually might be more rotation than we've seen before under Steve Sarkisian, just because there is so much talent availabke.

o. Kobe Black had an INT off of Trey Owens. We were told it wasn't a bad ball by Owens, but that Black did as great job of baiting him into the throw and then Black made a great play to finish off the interception.

p. Billy Walton flashed a couple of times today. In fact, it sounds like he and Andre Cojoe got into a little bit at one point. The competition was definitely high today.

q, Trey Moore looked super quick off the edge. "Uses hands well and has a lots of variety in his moves. Easily the leader at his position right now,," one source mentioned.
