seems pretty fair
- This team doesn’t have an obvious weakness and that starts with Ewers. He has a live arm and is mobile enough to hurt you. Excels in the tunnel screen and intermediate depth game (although he missed a couple vs Okla). He’s the best QB we’ll face this year, yes he’s better than Milroe and Dart and Nico (right now at least).
- The OLine moves well, and they need to, as Sark asks a lot of them in terms of pulling, taking on multiple blocks but they’ve done it well so far. Will be crucial for our DEs and LBs to fill the right gaps. RBs are fine but most of their success comes from successful design & execution up front.
- WRs and TEs will be quite a challenge. They’re very athletic. Texas likes running mesh concepts and deep crossers, will require excellent communication on the back end… we’ll see. We’re vulnerable here. It will be crucial to effect Ewers in the pocket so some of these long developing concepts have less time to develop.
- They have an opportunistic defense that creates takeaways but they can be worked a bit up front. Miss St ran pretty well on them. If our O Line plays well, we’ll have a good chance to score a good bit. We’ll certainly eclipse the current high they’ve given up (13 pts).
- They would rather give up a consistent amount of 6 yard plays than take chances of giving up explosives. They wait for you to make the mistake. Anthony Hill is a star linebacker.
- Overall, this is a really good, well coached team. I think Texas -4.5 or -5 would be about the right line. Dawgs can win but will need to create a couple turnovers by creating some tangible pressure on Ewers and control the LOS on the offensive side. Beck needs to play pretty mistake free.
