Of course post 9/11 we had the 7th inning stretch as time when God Bless America would play and people would wave flags and cheer...but it seems to still be a thing. I'm all for the song and not criticizing any patriotism out there - but why do we need to stand and take our hats off and put hand over our hearts? It's not the national anthem...that's at beginning of game. In Canada do they sing God Bless America during the 7th inning stretch or is there some Canade song about hockey and poutine that is sung? I just find it strange that this has become a tradition and is treated like the national anthem and if we don't stand and salute the song then we aren't patriotic - but yet if they play Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" during the game we don't stand and take off our caps...if they play @Ketchum favorite "Party in the USA" we don't stop and look at the flag...
