In the Field:
Jordan Spieth and Johnny Vegas were already in the field.
Brandon Stone qualified at the sectional event in England back on May 29. Great for him to snag one of the 15 spots out of a field of 111 players.
Then today several more Texas players, former players and future players were trying to qualify for the US Open at sites across the country. Sectional qualifying is the second stage after local.
Scottie Scheffler played in the stacked field at the Columbus OH event and he made his way through. Huge day for the senior, as he beat a TON of PGA Tour players straight up.
Maybe in the Field:
Doug Ghim is 2nd alternate out of the Springfield Ohio event after shooting -6 (-5 in his second round). Good stuff by our other Senior, as he beat some damn good players. Hope it works out for him somehow.
Not in the Field:
Cody Gribble played in the other stacked field event, in Memphis, but he withdrew. Not sure what happened there.
Beau Hossler opened with a fantastic -7 in Newport Beach, but followed it up with a +2 round and missed the cut. Tough afternoon for him.
Gavin Hall played in the Columbus event with Scottie, but his -3 total (-5 in the second round) wasn't enough. Cool experience for the recent grad, who played as an amateur.
Cole Hammer (future Horn) shot -4 over the two rounds at Dallas' Lakewood CC but that wasn't enough to make the cut. Good for him for trying though. He beat some Tour players like Hunter Mahan.
Charlie Holland also played in Dallas, but his even par wasn't enough (only 3 made it from Dallas, which required -10).
